What's up with Black Crows ski lengths to 0.1cm

Pet peeve of the day. Black Crows list their skis to the 1/10th of a cm. For example, Camox are available in 174.6, 181.2, and 186.1. Is this just marketing mumbo jumbo or are their skis accurate to 0.1 cm? I'm willing to bet if you measured a decent sample there would be some variance greater than 0.1cm. Also, does it really matter if a ski is 181.2cm or 181cm? I don't think so.

Some other brands were notorious for being 2-3cm shorter than the label. I think they are stressing their accuracy in their advertised stats.

They are no more accurate (consistent) in their finishing than comparable skis from the Atomic or Elan factories. They are still cut apart by some guy with a bandsaw and finished with a variety of automated finishing machines, but trying to get to 1mm accuracy is not one of the goals.

yep, they should just measure them in millimetres after all that's what a tenth of a centimetre is
or how about 1.841 metres?

Concur with the branding thing. Seems stoopid to me, but probably smart from a business perspective. I work with a guy who doesn't know shit about skis but can't stop yabbering about how great Black Crows are. The market seems to be flooded with them at discount prices, and seem to be a good option for many.

...until you move into tenths of millimeters, as presented for some ski widths in e.g. blister reviews, then the decimal makes sense again!

Besides that, the Crows' length numbers, exactly as printed on their skis, probably only exists in their cad files.

But in all fairness, and as a mark of consistency when it comes to Crows' numbers printed on the skis, their waist widths have always also been given in centimeters, and also with one decimal, as opposed to other manufacturers who prints lengths in cm and widths in mm...
