Limestone also starts getting compromised at around 1000° F and completely disintegrates at around 1700° F

"Good news: all the works of art were saved. The treasure of the Cathedral is intact, the Crown of thorns, the Holy sacraments. #NOTRE_DAME"

Christ on a crutch Trump is a moron......From his Twitter account:
"So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!"
For fuck's sake......What we have here is an intelligence failure. You may be familiar with staring directly at that when shaving. .

Well, you think they’ll put a Target/chipotle/Panera combo there? Area could use one.

Yeah ten or so years ago a MegaMcMansion burned to the ground as, I think a drop cloth or tarp got too close to a work light. Burned in a matter of minutes. It was a ridge top house and the whole Valley got to see it-during rush hour.
Amazing how fast fire can consume something.Ski Shop - Basement of the Hostel

The French firefighting dept now says they are not sure they can even stop the fire at this point.

Heh^^. Correction-> It was a French Interior Ministry official who said firefighters might not be able to save Notre Dame Cathedral.

Lulz at this being posted in English by French officials. Wonder whom it is directed at? 😂
“Hundreds of firemen of the Paris Fire Brigade are doing everything they can to bring the terrible #NotreDame fire under control. All means are being used, except for water-bombing aircrafts which, if used, could lead to the collapse of the entire structure of the cathedral.”

CaCO3(s) + high heat --> CaO(s) + CO2(g)

So, yeah, significant amounts of the cathedral stone probably going to thermally decompose to quicklime.
