    Skool me on STH2 16 vs STH2 13 vs P14 WTR

Looking for a binding that will work with a crossover boot. Been a while since I owned an Sally binding -- used the STH 16 for about 5 years in middle/high school, wore out the toe wings, had some nasty pre-releases, and switched to the metal-toe "set and forget" FKS/Pivot 18 ever since.

    Basic questions:

    - Any difference between the STH2 16 and STH2 13 besides spring strength? I use the P18 for the metal toe over the P14, but I don't know much about the STH line.
    - Any durability comparisons of the STH2 13 to STH2 16 to the plastic-toed P14 WTR? I've read a bunch of thread comparing P18 to STH16 to metal STH/916 so I know overall the differences, but have shied away from the P14 cuz I know plenty of people who have broken them.

Barring any strong consensus, I guess buy whatever I can find cheapest?

PS. Yes, I searched. If you can link a better thread for this question, I'll post in it and delete this on.

Potentially dumb question, but aren't STH2s only WTR certified at the moment? I thought you could buy separate AFD plates for P18 that are WTR.

You can get WTR or Gripwalk AFD for a Pivot 18.

So no compromise. And no need to abandon the Binding of The Gods.

Okay, that's really good to know. Are these them? https://casttouring.com/products/wtr-afd How do you install? Does it work with any P18 since the re-issue?

But let's pretend these are for my broke, ski patrolling little brother (patrols in the Hawx XTD 120 and doesn't already own P18s). Also I have a pair of skis I might be able to re-use the STH holes for. So still curious about the answer to the original questions, particularly about any differences between the STH2 13 vs STH2 16.

Find a cheap set of STH 13 or 16, not gonna find a cheap P14 or P18(new).

This doesn't really answer your question, but I have P14 on two sets of skis and STH2 13 that came on one set. I don't have a binding stash beyond those, and if I had to go buy some I'm pretty sure it would be new STH2 13s. Really nice binding and at like $225 new it's tough to beat. The cheapest I've picked up used P14s for was like $150 locally but that doesn't even seem that common. Maybe they won't last forever, but they'll last through a couple sets of skis IMO. They click in and out easier, I've had no strange release issues, and they are much easier to adjust for guests, friends, new boots, etc.

No difference in construction other than springs, I've used plenty of both with no complaints. As mentioned above, they are only WTR, GripWalk and ISO 5355 compatible, so Hawx Ultra 120 XTD is OK but new Zero G Tour Pro would not be.

Again -- not exactly to this thread purpose: but STH2 and STH holes don't match in the heel.
