I appreciate the “mature” decision making, and the realization that such a goal oriented endeavour ain’t what skiing or life is all about, but just cause your ultimate objective isn’t in condition doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy plan B or C. I know you’re on a schedule, but that still seems a long way to drive to ski past a lot of incredible terrain?

Unfortunately I do have to pass that terrain. That’s the “job” aspect of my job. A compromise I’m happy to make cause it’s a rad job that allows me to do really fun stuff, chase dreams and provide for my family. But as I said in the episode, we had 28 days for 3 lines, so it means not staying out there longer to ski for fun. Plus with nearly two months planned to be away from fam in May and June, again, sacrifices have to be made.
To the Tincup sleeping bag…it was a branded Noso patch to seal up a tear. So not a sponsor placement on purpose, just a free patch
There are no ads on Fifty videos, so Cody earns no revenue from YT. I believe years ago he explained he needed to be able to tell the NPS that these videos were not a commercial endeavor, which made it much easier to obtain permission to film in national parks. Hence he did not want to monetize the videos by having YT put ads on them and pay him a percentage of the revenue.
^right on, thanks.
Oh shoot, I had no idea. I've been a YT subscriber for years. Got a free year of Google Play Music (now YT music) with my Pixel 1 and I never went back to Spotify since it includes YT Premium.
Always blows me away when I see YT through someone else's account and see just how many intrusive ads they get.
I've heard that YT Premium subscriber views help creators more than ordinary views, but maybe that doesn't actually matter if Cody isn't monetizing the videos.
I've been premium YouTube forever. Way better.
I thought YouTube premium was good, until I saw patched YouTube clients with sponsorblock. So much better. I think I might just cancel my premium.
I'd love to watch the newest episode, but my kids (11 and 14) have forbidden me from watching it without them and we haven't found time yet. A couple notes:
1. Thanks Cody for putting something out that my kids can enjoy as much as I do.
2. I must be doing something right too.
Enjoyed the keeping it real free skier v. mountaineer mentality/risk discussion on Reviewing the News pod today.

I've known this was a thing for a while, but didn't get around to starting it until last night. Then got a migraine, called in sick and watched them on and off all day.
Up to episode 26 and can't think of anything else to get me more excited to start my first season of touring (even knowing nothing I'll ever ski will touch these objectives). So much good stuff on risk vs reward, trusting yourself to call it when it's not feeling right and just having a whole lot of fun with friends.
Can't wait to catch up and see what this season brings!
