I'll clear up any speculation: Just got back from Baffin with Vivian and Bjarne....along with Brennan Lagasse and Jeff Dostie and a client, who were sharing camp and logistics but skiing separately of us. As Viv posts states, we skied Polar Star, but the story to get there and what happened in there is worthy of a movie alone. After that though, there was no way I was going to Baffin Island to ski one line. So we had 10 days to tick off as much as we could. The trip was one of the best of my life and Viv is not only one of the best steep skiers / ski mountaineers in the world, but just an incredibly awesome human.

For the rest, been keeping tabs on Robson and it's in rough shape from what I'm hearing. University probably is gonna get my first try next year. Next up though, St. Elias round 2.

It's fun to go back and re-watch an episode after skiing a 50 line. Not sure what I think about using the exact same rap station that Cody and gang did 4 years ago knowing none of it has been replaced. I'm sure the sun didn't degrade things too much, right?

As someone who converted a sprinter for under 20k (including the sprinter) back in 2014 that is still running today with over 300k miles on it, I somewhat disagree. Hutchski, the owner, has had to fork out some serious cash at times to fix it, but it's also been on some incredible adventures with quite a bit of serious off roading in a 2 wheel long body. Finding a mechanic to work on it was always one of the biggest challenges.

I guess I should have said that they are a compromise for most everything. I was probably being grumpy.

As a guy with a wife and two kids I haven't found a single do-it-all camper. Big trailers and Class C's don't have the mobility. Trailers have limitations during the winter. Cabovers are cumbersome and heavy. Sprinters are very small inside for a whole family.

They definitely have great applications. If I were solo or had just my wife or just my kids there are a ton of places I'd go in a Sprinter. Getting up to 4 people in a confined space is tough for me. The long Sprinters are substantially better, but still small-ish.

If my kids continue to love skiing and want to go along on trips there will probably be another camper in my future. A Sprinter, cabover or small 4wd class C.

I'm sure you've seen the class C in upper Judah lot.. That thing is pretty ideal.

We nailed not even stepping foot on the mountain. Just a horrendous weather year in AK. Amid some other very complex logistical problems, couldn't even give it a try. But...gonna keep trying.

BFD, actually interviewed Mike Ivers son Wayne Ivers so heard a bit about that attempt. So many stories from people that have been in storms on that mountain have told me they’d never go back. It’s gotta be one of the most violent weather areas in the world. This year was just a brutally bad spring up in SE AK so we didn’t want to re-create that story. Will be back though

the year was 1992. Sadly MIke Ivers died in June of that year. He was flying back from the Alsek after checking on some rafters. Gulf Air had a log in their office that was a great history of climbing in that area. After Kurt died someone else bought Gulf Air. I was never able to find out what happened to that log. A good place for it would be the AAC Library in Golden. Do the Ivers still have the log? Alka I though you were flying with Claus. Were you having him pick you up in Yakutat?

Bummer about the non-send for you Cody, but the mountain will endure.
