Closer to 187. I’m also on the 188 at 6’1 220 and find them far from demanding.

That's pretty much the use case. Not demanding, but backseat drivers may have a harder time
6'1" 205# CT 188cm mounted at +1... Pretty easy skiing... Need a touch more aggressive turn initiation than the DW112, WC 108, but not punishing at all. Surprisingly fun (given the width) on softer groomers as well.

first time out on my countachs today - something immediately felt off. suspected base bevel issues, and lo and behold they were at or near 0 degrees. The tips and tails were beveled, but transitioned to flat near the contact points. Took em home and put a 1 degree bevel on them. You can see in the pic the transition zone from the tip bevel (right) to the flat region (left), where my file began removing material. I used a black sharpie to mark the edge so it's easier to see where the file was hitting.

no biggie really and not the first time I've received flat edges on a new ski, but something to be aware of.

I also noticed my CTs have the "red moment logo on black base" design like you see on the current commander 102, rather than the "black moment text on red base" design that the site shows on the CT.

The base photo probably carried over on the website from last years release. I bought mine last year and they have the old base that shows on the site. Any CT purchased after 8/1 should have the new base on them.

Moment is looking pretty low on skis. Probably saved me from buying a set of 101 kitties tomorrow. I'm still chasing that playful DD and would love some Moments. Still Commander curious, too.

the trick to get the photos the right side up is just to slightly crop/edit them before uploading them

Thanks for adding pics to the thread too - we need more pics of skis

Pretty much how I feel. Edge hold is supreme and all around fun times in 90% of conditions. Which is why I got em.

Haven’t had them in any form of pow, but heading on a hut trip this weekend so debating taking them and suffering the extra weight (CAST) vs bringing my Corvus FB. Hard to decide.

Interested in the WC 108, currently skiing the MFree 108(which I really like). How do they compare?
    Thanks, Mike

Way different. WC 108 likes to run bases flat and pivot. Lighter, not as damp as the mfree. The WC will get up on edge but found it really only liked one turn shape. The mfree fits my home terrain and snow better than the WC 108.

completely different experience this week at beaver creek on my WC 108. I was railing edges faster than any other ski i have other than my commander 98. While it pivots it’s not a pivot monster like my deathwish or meridians. the wc loves to be pushed hard and charge. Has plenty of backbone.

it loved getting edge to edge running super fast on the hips.

Having a great day today hunting powder out here in beaver creek. Found some super fresh untouched. The float is REAL. Poles are deep. Click image for larger version.

Any of you folks taken the DW 184 to Japan and regretted it? I have a fatter/reverse camber touring ski but keep worrying the DW might not be enough for the resorts.

I took Protests for touring and lifts to Hokkaido and did not regret it. I didn’t think about my Bibbys or DW once while I was there. I’d much rather ski a wide ski in slightly sub-optimal conditions than be undergunned on the best days. DWs would have been undergunned for me. YMMV of course and you could ski your touring skis on deeper lift days too.

I took Faction Mana 3 to Hokkaido this year and never regretted it. It has same waist as DW 184, also I had same length. My experience with Hokkaido is - lift accessed powder is destroyed within couple of hours. So I'd rather be on something more or less universal when everything is skied out than have 2 boats attached to my feet. Plus, in my 3 trips to Hokkaido I only remember maybe couple of days, when snow was chest deep. Snow is very consistent, yes, but you usually ski boot-deep, maybe knee-deep snow. For these conditions I never felt undergunned with 112 waisted ski.

The Wildcat 108 has a much longer turn radius than the mfree 108. If you like or need a 108 ski to pull you into turns you might prefer the mfree. Personally I don’t want that short of turn radius in a 108 because the mfree gets squirrely af going mach looney through 3d snow.

The wc 108 is much better composed at speed in junk, better in powder. yet still very playful for me in the 190. It’s decent enough on groom to lay trenches as long as it’s slightly soft. I switch to the commander 108 for firmer conditions, hard chalk, crud, ice because the edge hold is unreal. Metal matters

Fuck, at this rate, my next skis might have to be skinny rock skis. 187cm is doable. Especially with the rocketed kick tail.
Stunt, do you have side profile picks?
    No longer stuck.

Got my friend some 158cm Moment Night Trains as powder skis for Tahoe. These ones have a 116mm waist. She’s 5’4, intermediate skier. Still working on technique and driving the shins, but can do most blacks. Doesn’t ski super fast though haha.

The factory mount point is pretty centered (-4cm). I can mount these for her boot at -5cm or -6cm from center. I’ve read some issues with tip dive with these. These skis may even be a little short for her.

Think -6cm from center might be the way to go? Anyone have input? The skis have hash marks out to 2cm in front and behind the recommended point

-5 sounds like it might be the better choice from everything you described. -2 from recommended on a 158 ski is pretty substantial, especially if she’s not driving the front of the ski.
