When in doubt, get a pair of Deathwish 112...

From Winter to Summer its still my ski of choice![]()
190 Wildcat 118, 190 Deathwish, and now 188 Countach. Which is the most charger?
I love Wildcat 118s. I can ski them everyday all mountain, and I do even when I have a quiver of thinner skis.
I need a new set, do I stick with Wildcat 118s or try out Deathwish or Countach? I prefer stiff and heavy directional skis, but have a blast on Wildcats for some reason.
Just to further confuse you, I too love the WC 108 as a DD then I got a Deathwish… yup, love those too! Different but in a good way. I often choose DW for firmer days over the 108 fwiw. Can’t really go wrong with any of them in my experience. Countach looks interesting though.

I think it goes wc108, dw, countach, commander. From most nimble to most charger, not sure how the fat wc fits in there as I’ve heard it’s chargier than the 108. My guess would be between the dw and countach since it’s heavier (damper) than the dw but farther forward mount and more of a twin than the countach but I’d be curious too

countach is going to be the most charging ski. It’s a directional charger with no metal. Slight tail rise lets it still slash and pivot to get out of the “oh no I’m going to fast moments”. Can still huck it off almost anything. Going to be faster edge to edge as well compared to the fat cat 118 with the countach at 110.
wildcat 190 as you already know is a lot of ski but surprisingly usable in a lot of conditions for its size. It’s going to charge but doesn’t need to. Lets you ski more switch if that’s your thing. Will feel overall more playful across the mountain. Does well
in most conditions but doesn’t love love firm pack.
deathwish being 112 is going to give you a lot of freedom conditions wise. Triple camber is really great in variable conditions when you don’t know what you’ll encounter. It does very well in firm conditions for a 112 but that’s triple camber for you. It can easily be a one ski quiver because it’s great is so many conditions. There isn’t much it can’t ski especially at 190. Still going to feel very playful across the whole mountain twin tip like the cat in case you prefer that.
So charge
countach
wildcat 118
deatwish 112
playful
deathwish 112
wildcat 118
Countach.
Even with that said. They’re moment skis, And they’re basically all the top performers in the general lineup. So they all will “charge and be playful” it’s just the nature of moment skis. It comes down to how much of what do you want more and prefer. Or if you’re a directional type skier or not that would point you one way vs the others as well.
for reference I also have
wildcat 118
wildcat 108
deathwish 112
deathwish 104
I’ve never been on a countach as I have a commander 98 and know I’m just not a directional skier. That being said I do want to demo the countach
hope this helps.
thanks. Definitely helps. I’m pretty sure I don’t need the Countach, my entire quiver is super metal directional skis and I need a bi-directional ski. Deathwish sound fun if I can find a deal on a pair. Wide Wildcat will be tried and true for me, probably will stick with that route.

Been looking at those Ski Burger Wildcats for like a week. Waiting on some cash and I think that’s my next ski.
I actually haven’t tried the Wildcat since they made it heavier a couple seasons ago. I did prefer the Bibby over 2019ish Wildcat 118 because the Bibby was beefier. However that lighter 2019 era Wildcat did have some nice traits like slightly better all day ski-ability, lap after lap at the resort.
Excited to try the newer, heavier version, maybe it’s kind of a mix of the two (Bibby and First Gen Wildcat). I’m splitting hairs here obviously, but still..
Cool new Carsons graphic.
Looks like it could be 'chapter 1' of a bibby/wildcat-esque narrative where the story gets told over multiple seasons/topsheets?
looking for feedback on the 196 Wildcats? currently in teh shopping cart.
the 190 serves me well. my only hangup is in those occasional moments where i step on the gas maybe a bit too much in deeppow, they tip dive. (easier for me to blame gear than it is my shitty technique.)
hoping the 196 would provide more support in the aforementioned scenario without killin the overall playful-charger utility.

Moment Sluts; help me find a new ski to (needless?) purchase.
tl;dr - I want and updated Tahoe.
the #sweetblogbro version: I want to combine my Moment Tahoes and my ON3P Viciks. When it's low tide or hasn't stormed in a while and I want to goof off on the mountain; the Tahoe has been great. It has enough backbone to keep things fast on the groomers, but with the right shape to get off trail when conditions are sub-prime. The Vicik does this a little, but it's burlier all around.
Because I'm a slut for Moments, finding another pair is always the answer. Right?
For some additional context, I picked up a minty pair of Belafontes two years ago and was stoked at how good they were for chopped-up, post-storm mank, and most everything else, actually. I also have a pair of Deathwish which need no further explanation. They're rad. So, I want to go narrower.
The C102 seems like it's a contender, though it's awfully close to the Belafonte; just newer and 4mm narrower. The C92 is intriguing, but that looks like a pure-play groom-slayer and might be less fun off-trail. The narrowest Wildcat caught my eye, but it appears to be geared more to the New Schooler crowd. And I'm not much for pronounced twin-tips in this segment.
It kinda seems like I want a Countach in a 100-ish or sub-100 waist width.
WWMD?
Wasn't the tahoe somewhat light for a charger type ski? Has real strong Kore 97 vibes. Honestly the newline Rustler 9/10 seems like it would play similarly?
Within the momentverse, I'd try a -2 Wc101, or just grab one of the many Tahoe's i seem to find in the local classifieds.
Countach if you want more chargey but probably a good amount of overlap w/ the Bela. I will say a 100ish Countach sounds like a primo ski. 110 is just a hair to wide for me when skiing a bunch of bumps or groomers.
But my gut is DW104. It's very good on the groomed for a ski of its size and is great in alpine chalk and soft snow up to 6-8".
I think the dw104 is the answer.
Anybody live in Meyers and able to grab a pair of kids kietzke that I found on Craigslist that won’t ship them. I can get the ups label paid and printed ahead of time. Beer to compensate for your time.

I found a great deal on some DWT112, but will 179cm be too short for me at 6ft, 165lbs? Currently ski camox freebirds at 183cm and would hate to pass up this deal over a few cms but the rocker pattern is making me think twice.
Ordered a fresh pair of DWT with Voyager XIIs today. Stoked for the season. Older pair of DWT will see early season/low tide work (depending on El Niño that could be a fair amount of work) and the new ones will feast when the Wasatch snowpack deepens.
Went back and forth a lot about whether or not to go with more of a quiver and add the DWT 104, but ultimately I've never found the 112 lacking, so no need to fix what isn't broken.
