I don't have a quiver these days. I have my stiff daily driver/hiking, 110 mm ski. I keep not pulling the trigger on DWs/pivots/cast. The Ghost Chants have me all flummoxed cause I feel like those would be super damn fun. Please tell me what to do.
Skied Thursday and Friday on the new DW 104s. 184s mounted OTL.
Conditions: green/blue groomers (all that’s open) with some fresh on top, able to dip into a few inches untracked Friday morning.
From the first turn was immediately impressed by how quick and agile they are. Great traditional DW grip. Was able to cruise from soft to hard patches with confidence. Can drive the front camber for extra grip, just like my DW 190s. Also, felt surprisingly stable landing small kickers.
Second day was able to get better idea of speed limit and really get them up on edge. I was impressed how well they carve for 104 underfoot. As for speed limit, the ski never felt unstable at top speed, the only thing holding it back was my size (6’, 230-240 with gear) on the flatter terrain in soft snow.
If I were using for a daily driver/1 ski quiver, I would have sized up to 190, but I bought them primarily for tree skiing while waiting on powder days.

I’ve got some Wise Transitions that don’t seem to have a spot in the rotation- if anyone wants, PM me! tia
Just picked up a pair of 190 Wildcat Tours and I am assuming the consensus is just to mount them on the line? Once upon a time I had a pair of Bibbys mounted on the line and felt like the tips would dive on me on occasion. Anybody riding the tours at -1 or -2? Or am I just overthinking things?

Question for the moment team - did y'all get enough bamboo for those ghost chant cores to make other skis w/ bamboo????
I'm the interest of further beating this horse, transitioning from DW104 to WC108. DW absolutely killed groomed, but I hate the centered mount off-piste. Moment's website has both skis listed at -6? But I thought WC was supposed to be more directional? Worried -1 might not be enough. Anybody go -2?
WC isn't any more directional really. Historically it was stiffer, but with the stiffening of the DW in 19/20 and the further stiffening of the 104 vs the standard DW, it's basically a wash. The difference now is primarily the camber profile and slightly different tip shapes. Either size up for more tip or mount -1cm.
If you want a more traditionally mounted ski that is similar, look at the TGR-approved Dynastar Mfree 108.
I love me some progressive mounts and put my dw and wc forward. Huskydoc may want a commander 108.
Comparing both the 21/22 deathwish and wc108, the wc feels noticeably stiffer and handles chop and soft snow better in my opinion. I skied them both mounted on the line and see zero advantages of moving it back.
The wc108 feels more directional maybe because you can lay into them more. If you really lay in and angulate on the DW that extra camber section wants to take over and that rudder feeling kicks in.
I gave them a good hard look, but I already have metal in my quiver and I don't -love- it for anything other than railing at speed. I picked WC looking for something that pivots and pops for like 6" and under days. I know, mfree 108. But I'm a sucker for a pretty topsheet, so WC won.
Waxing my WC collection for tomorrow, and was amazed by how little damage I had to repair. A couple of edge spots that required buffing, and zero required base repair.
Damn, you make these guys tough.
I’m sure that there was not less rocks at Kirkwood last year.
Thank you.
If anyone is interested in trading a 184 DW 104 for my 190 DW 112, hit me up.
May also just sell my 190 DWs if anyone is interested - totally mint, one mount for sth2 at ~305
