There's a pair of 188 commander 108s at my local consignment store. They want $375. Seems fair. Kind of want to try these but also recently picked up some mint 192 cochise that I'm really happy with for non pow. Anyone have a comparison of these 2 skis?
On the Chipotle Snowblades?

Flat. If that was with bindings I probably would have pulled the trigger.
Yes, I have a lot of experience on both of these skis in those sizes. The Commander 108 has a more forward mount point, more camber and more tail rocker than the Cochise. It is much lighter than the Cochise, but feels stiffer , especially with the additional camber. I loved the Cochise in crud and junky snow but thought they had room to improve on firm snow, bumps and powder.
The Comm 108 is explosively fast on groomers with a lot of energy and is much more responsive in deeper snow. It has the unique ability to slash, pivot and then bomb. After skiing these 3 days, I liquidated my entire quiver except for my BGs. $375 is a steal, jump on them
Man you're not helping! That sounds very similar to what I'm looking for to compliment my BGs.
Good call! These 190 DW are awesome! I've got about 15 days on mine this season and I love them even more every time out. Havent had them on ice and I have a little trouble keeping the tail engaged on hard pack (likely a problem with the pilot, not the ski), but in all other conditions they have been fun to incredible... and I sure as hell didnt buy them to ski icy groomers. They are so much fun in trees and I even started liking bumps. Enjoy!

Zoolander wasn't a documentary?
I saw some up close images of next years Moments on Insta and my oh my - the owly Commanders look fantastic, as does the Wildcats! Can't even imagine how good they must look in person. Well done Moment, well done![]()
Thought I'd give a quick first take on the wildcat 108.
Got the 108 wildcats up to kirkwood today. I was thoroughly impressed. I skied the 190. Demo attack 13's, I skied em on the line all day. Felt no reason to move em. 5'10, 185ish
These skis egged me on all day. They want to jump off everything and go fast. I like dropping small cliffs, and after the first run they wanted me to go bigger. I obliged.
First thing, first turn on this ski I was presently surprised by how stiff the tail is right behind the foot. This allows you get into the tail if you want. You can tail gun them, you can land a little off and ride the tails, but they are super loose if you want.
Bout 4 inches of fresh, super wind affected. Scoured in places, buffed others, loaded - little bumps all around. The 108's wanna truck through them like the normal bibby would. You can sneak through them, ski soft bumps fast as hell. In gullies all around the wood I was skiing faster than normal. And grinning.
Wasn't super deep chop, but they surprised me at how straight and fast they wanted to ski chop. They probably do deflect a little more than my old 2011 bibby's. Def less than meridians.
In fresh it's a little surfier than I expected. Same way the bibby is - not the loosest, not the surfiest but when you get it planing it's fun in the fresh.
Before mid-day I kinda stopped thinking about them (a good sign for skis in my book). I just skied like I would if I had bibby's on and loved em. I definitely got more energy out of these things than the old bibby's. Quicker side to side.
The skis are quicker edge to edge and have more response than the meridian 107. Unsurprising for a cambered ski. They also have a higher speed limit both in chop and on groom. Bit more pop on side hits / spins. Not that much different to spin than the meridian 187 - I think I had more fun on them than the meridians because of how much more you can load them up and pop.
Firm groomers today, pretty high speed limit. Fast fall line turns or wide open, wouldn't say they can be put into as many turn shapes as a meridian but still fun on grooms. Definitely more variability than the old cochise. Kept me looking for side hits all day. I jumped more and had more fun than I would have with bibby's on.
Started the day thinking yeah these might be better than my meridians. Ski these, something like a bibby, and a protest and call it good. I finished the day thinking hmmmmmm maybe just a protest and these things? For reference I really like the bibby, meridian, and praxis gpo. These things go faster in tight terrain than the gpo's.
@sruffian thanks for the write up. I can't wait to get mine.
IDK where we are on this thread or the other that vanished & I owe ExoticSkis.com a full write up, yet I’m dubbing the Commander 98 “travel insurance” as everything I toss at it it kills.
Question on the Wildcat/Bibby 108. Isn't the PBJ just a Wildcat/Bibby 102? Is the difference between these skis 5mm underfoot?
^^^close, but not quite. SIX (6) mm.
Also, heavier and damper core materials. And I think the PB&J mount point is 1 cm more centered (-5 v. -6).
Anyone selling a Commander 108 in a 188? Moment seems to be sold out.
sproing!
Pb&js are 101 underfoot, have a mount of -5cm, and are much lighter than the wildcat 108. Definitely room for both of them in Moments lineup, and some crazy mofos on here will find room for them in the same quiver. Although I wonder if at some point Moment will drop the normal pb&j layup in favor of just the pb&jib. I kind of doubt it though.
