2018-19 Praxis Skis Info and Resource Thread

I've had a couple pair of 190 BC over the years, both mounted on the line with pin bindings. They are awesome. Always ski well. Predictable in everything I've skied from pow to unlikable pnw hardpack / ice.

Anyone have an opinion on GPO vs FRS? 192/194 size. I see folks like the GPO for sure... Not much on the FRS?

I don't know if this data point helps, but working this backwards, I asked Keith what he thought of a custom, skinny (-10) GPO vs. a BC. He commented that if I like the GPO, that I'd probably have a marginal preference for the BC as opposed to a custom, skinny GPO - that sizing down doesn't translate perfectly. The two would be very close, but the extra money spent on the -10 option wouldn't have much (if any) return.

Now, having said that, the year before, I got a +10 GPO (126mm under foot) and it skis just as I'd expect - like a wider GPO. Well, Keith endorsed that idea, which is why I took the chance.

So, I'm thinking that you'd get what you like from the BC, out of a GPO. I have no experience with the FRS.

That makes sense. I'd add that i prefer on the dimple on the BC and -1 on the gpo. I still think the GPO is the best in class as a 1 ski westcoast quiver. Very versatile.. If i remember correctly you're -1.5 on the gpo? Have you had a chance to try your BC's ?

Looking for confirmation here before I mount my own bindings. I'm new to the Praxis world, and just purchased some 188 MVPs on a whim during the recent stock sale. I'm 6'1" 155lbs, have skied a variety of 184-186cm skis in the past.

I was looking for a one ski quiver, do it all travel ski since my dates and locations are usually locked in well in advance, and I'm going to ski whatever the conditions are on those days.

I've been on 182cm MFree 108s these past few years, and I've really enjoyed how easy they are to ski in tight terrain, but I want something a bit longer and a bit harder charging out in the open, while still being playful and fun to seek out tight leftover stashes with.

Other thoughts I had included 192cm MFree 108s, Woodsman 108s, Wildcat 108s, or the Sender Free 110s.

Did I do a good thing? I'm a light guy (runner) who only gets about 10 days per year, will they be too stiff?

And obligatory pics and measurements to share: 2138/2168 grams still in the plastic, 186.2cm straight tape pull.

I finally mounted my BCs over the weekend - on the line, per your advice. It's been a slow start to the season here, and when I get out in the next week or two, I'll take some beaters out ;-)

I've varied from -1 to -1.5 on my GPOs and they felt fine. I just converted one pair to CAST (had Vipecs), and due to a hole conflict, I mounted at -.5. So, two changes: forward slightly, but with a flatter stance. It will be interesting, but I'm confident they'll be fine ;-)

Based only on what I’ve read and owning some Praxis skis that I love, sounds like a perfect fit to me. New MVP 108 in my quiver now as well.

Slow snow base here after an epic winter last year (could hop on roof from snow drifts at my house) and traveling for the holidays. But hopefully trying the MVPs out a couple days before the year ends.

Super thin in the canadian rockies so fsr as well but looks like theyre set to get a good dump in the next few days. Hopefully the same for you.

I was oht with a buddy on our little east coast ski hill for some preseason touring. He's on my old ul gpo's and loving them. Hooting and hollering the whole way down. Great to see. He was convinced after seeing how well they worked last year and how durable they were. He's now waiting on his custom sale yetis for the 2 ski praxis touring quiver

As requested, a shot of the BCs w/Raider 12s. I also shot a photo of my remounted GPOs - Vipec to CAST. My nylon top GPOs have Haute Routes (BD Heleo 200s).

Amazing! 15 on a scale of ten. Im thinking tele, bc, tele , gpo, tele wall size pic and frame it!!

I've never been a fan of gold anything. My wife and my wedding rings are white gold, although out of habit from our climbing daze, we don't wear 'em.

I picked up some gold Pivots last Spring. Now that I've mounted them, I can't imagine any other color on those GPOs. I can't wait to see how they ski at "only -5mm" (hole conflict prevented further back).

I'm now wondering if im just slowly adjusting to more progresssive mounts. I have some m free 99's i use a lot here in the east and i mountdd them quite a bit farthef forward then the rec and liking them. I should crunch some numbers to relly compare

Finally got some time on my 190 Mind Sticks yesterday in a bit of fresh on top of man made. Exactly what I was hoping for. It's a nice damp, stable ski that could easily be pushed to daily duty. Pretty playful for a 190. I think they'll be a lot of fun to charge on when conditions are soft. I think I'm going to ride these quite a bit. They worked better on the firm/icy patches than I expected.

Not a bad thing unless the tips dive. Gpo and protest can still break loose easily at -1/-1.5. Curious to see how they float for you. I'm going to put another binding on my gpo's when i get them

Those sure look good. Will get my BCs remounted with ATKs back from the shop sometime next week hopefully. Yeah, I know, I don't mount my own skis––never been a DIY person, and I won't risk fucking my skis up unless I have someone who knows exactly what they're doing next to me to help.

Those sure look good. Will get my BCs remounted with ATKs back from the shop sometime next week hopefully. Yeah, I know, I don't mount my own skis––never been a DIY person, and I won't risk fucking my skis up unless I have someone who knows exactly what they're doing next to me to help.

Well, why let a shop screw it up when you can do it yourself ;-) I had my first serious mounting accident when mounting the Pivots. Hint - it involved the drill bit collar slipping. The good news is, that I developed a strategy so this never happens again. I'll post in the MYOFS thread.

My Skinny Quixote's just arrived!

Skinny build is minus 0.5cm around the perimeter of the ski. So that results in -1cm in length and -1cm (aka -10mm) in width, the resulting dims are:

187cm
108mm underfoot
burled maple veneer
#4 flex, enduro core
asymmetric!!
