If 192 is your jam, $500 veneer gpo's on the site is pretty amazing. Veneer alone costs half that

Good call, and $425 for nylons aren't too shabby either. Which means I will finally be able to still my curiosity by A-B:ing the GPO's to my +1 Fat 191 BC's. Yes, I clicked...

Still really like the gpo. Ran my bc on the dimple and -1 on the gpo. Good snag

I'm after a pair I can use on low tide days, goofing off on the mountains with my friends, and something with a backbone, able to lay it down on the groomers. I don't need or want a proper twin, but something with a mini twin or tail rise is good. This skier raced back in the day and skiing switch isn't part of my repertoire.

Something fun like the Moment Tahoe (waist of 96mm) and the backbone and construction of the ON3p Vicik (waist width of 104mm). Think directional ski that's fun, with a bit of rocker, and a waist of +/- 100mm. I love indie skis, owning several ON3P, 4FRNT, and Moment references over the years. In fact, I think ON3P and Moment comprise my entire quiver at the moment.

In scoping the custom ski builder on the site, it seems that the MVP 94, the 9D8, or the Slugger (maybe) might fit the bill. Am I tracking on that? What would you recommend and why? WWMD?
    Slugger. People like it!

It looks like it fits the bill, though no front rocker. It seems like it's a traditional shape, yes?

35cm of tip rocker? Looks like a great ski for what you're after (haven't skied it), esp with the beefier build.

Longtime praxis junky lapsed poster. I have been on the piste jib for 4 seasons love it but you seem more directional focused.

I have been looking to flesh out the sub 100 range. I own GPO, Concepts, Q's and Protests, so pretty covered for soft snow. I emailed Keith about the mvp 94 and slugger compared to the PJ. His replies below.

Fwiw in the 100mm range if your are looking to ski primarily resort, and you are going custom I would recommend heavy hitter core with veneer tops. Its a super smooth feel. I really like the addition of carbon for extra pop but that's a personal preference.

    Keith's reply.

The PJ's have more tip and tail taper, as well as a more true twin type ski being the tail is almost as fat as the tip. The idea with that ski was to make a fun slarvy park all mountain ski that really would wash out a little and butter due to these aspects. Whereas the MVP 94 has less taper in the tip and tail and therefore more responsive edge engagement.

So for carving around the mountain and driving into the turns the MVP 94 has better edge engagement and less of a slarve. The specs sheets kind of indicate this as well being the MVP 94 is 129 in the tip and 94 underfoot. and the PJ's are 122 tip and 99 underfoot. So the PJ is not as deep of a sidecut/bigger turn radius.

The Slugger has similar aspects to the MVP 94 in those regards but also is not as twin orientated of a ski. It does have a turned up tail but its not really meant to ski backwards. I say this because the tip is a good bit fatter relative to the tail dimensions so its not really balanced to be a park style twin, more of a forward orientated twin tip that you can drive into, also not as high of a twin tail. The Slugger is the most surface area of the bunch and a good option from skiing groomers to getting off piste and skiing skied out snow or powder.

hey Bobcat, I have a pair of the "Ski" which was post skinny-RX and pre-Slugger that I'm going to sell. Tons of overlap and too many skis. This version was 147.110.133, a slightly wider version of the current Slugger. Let me know if you might be interested.
I also had a pair of 9D8s which were an excellent, traditional ski.

    Man... great detail, thanks.

I don't think I'm going custom as I believe I missed the sale window and popping $1600 for a pair of goof-around sticks seems a bit much, even if they are Praxis. However I did spend way too much time checking out the topsheets. So many tasty and rad options.

Those sound interesting, but I'm trying to thin out the quiver. And I'm pretty well stacked at 110-ish width with a Deathwish and Belatfonte.

    Be

Wanted something a bit beefier and a hair narrower than the stock 182 GPO

    I’m getting soft

    Liking the shorter skis too

So durable. Toured on my 10yo MVPs recently, and they looked almost new - and skied beautifully.

    @Mesh, those look incredible!

All I did was pick out the combination Keith and his team did an amazing job. I wish they would sell the skis for what they're worth instead of trying to compete with what's being manufacutred somewhere else.
