Doing a new batch tonight. Just went to the organic lavender farm for some scent oil and, since she's also a beekeeper, copped some of her lavender honey, which is fukking unreal.
edit to add: Adjusted the mix on the cream and a minor miscalculation on the cbd in relation to the rest of the ingredients resulted in five 4.7 oz jars each with around 3500 mg of cbd. The scent is sweet and the texture is really nice.

I've been battling a sprained ankle that just won't heal 100%. I've never really thought about CBD topicals but this thread has me intrigued. Especially Splat's DMSO infused salve. DMSO is one of those folkloric products that my grandma and dad swear by. My grandma put that stuff on everything.
There's so much information out there. I don't know where to begin but I see that KQ likes the Fairwinds products and they have a topical gel (Flow Gel) that's 14:1 CBD to THC. Does anyone have any experience with that product?
What are peoples opinions about CBD topical for joint sprains? Does anyone have a particular topical product that they like? Has anyone tried the Fairwinds Flow Gel?

I've not noticed any effects from the THC and I'm a lightweight when it comes to THC. It def. is more intense when your skin is warm. I either apply it out of the shower or for my hand where I have arthritis in one knuckle I just wash it with warm water.
I've heard good things about this product but have not tried it: BODHI ESSENTIALS

My cream seems to really work best on joints. Shoulders, elbows, fingers, hips are the best results that I've experienced or have been told about so far. My knee loves it for the pain but it ain't feelin the comeback love as easily/quickly as my shoulder did. Prolly cause it's even more fucked up than my shoulder was. But it's my focus now.

My hips are fried. Was told over a year ago I need a replacement on the right, and it was the left one I smashed in December '17, the jury's still out on that one but I'm pretty sure it's toast too. Both of them hurt all the time. Put splat's salve on yesterday and my right hip hasn't hurt for about 24 hours now.
The left one, I put it on the outside of my hip and now that doesn't hurt, but that pain stopping revealed how much the interior/groin aspect of the hip hurts. I mean I was aware of it but it was secondary. I can't figure how to get the salve into the groin area without getting it on my nuts too, so I've been hesitant. But I may just go for it if I can figure out some sort of temporary bondage device to keep things apart for a bit while the salve soaks in. Maybe I'll just go all RHCP and use a sock.
My hands are also kinda fucked but I wasn't trying to treat them but I realized afterwards that they stopped hurting too (I applied the salve with bare hands, so some salve got on both of them).
But bottom line is I'm a believer. Thanks Pat!

Maybe this thread should be renamed - the geriatric hope.
Ice - you're done with kids...I'm assuming...so what would hurt deez nuts? Maybe this shit is the new natural viagra too!
Based on the limited research, I'm still a fan of the full spectrum stuff and thankfully that is available in MA.

I've seen this thread for a while but recently became interested as I have arthritis in my left knee. I do my normal 26 mile bike ride after work and no pain while riding, but when i go to bed and when I walk it hurts pretty good sometimes.
I've scanned a few pages of this thread and a lot is being said, but is there a consensus on which would be best for arthritis? Topical, cream, gel, liquid? I'm in an illegal weed state so it would have to be a hemp product, unless a cannabis product can somehow be had and is much better. I'm ready to go out and get some now if it's sold in a regular store. I'm in NJ. Recommendations??

Sounds like you could benefit from both oral and topical CBD.
Topical would be nice to put on right before bed after a long bike ride and the oral would add overall everyday benefits to help with the pain you experience when walking. You might also look into custom foot beds and/or new shoes. If something is wrong with your foot/stance/gait then everything up the line will be effected.
You might try what Splat makes when he has another batch ready. In the meantime take a look at this:

I'm a big proponent of stretching. I've been dealing with different degrees of knee injury & pain for more than 30 years which now certainly includes arthritis, and keeping my calves, quads and most importantly my hamstrings nice and stretched out seems to take the strain off the knees.

Thanks KQ, I PMd Splat about his cream and will wait for his next batch. Also ordered some oil to check out as someone I was talking to said they were only taking the oil and it made a huge difference. This pain thing is new to me as it just came about the end of last summer. I first got a gel shot (synvik??) which did nothing and got a cortisone shot in January, which helped a ton but I still get pain, especially at night and in the morning.

Yes Powpig, i should definitely do some stretching. I've never stretched out before exercising or sports and never had to for some reason. Now that I'm older (60 this year) it's probably time to stretch, especially in the a.m. when it is very tight. I feel like the scarecrow in the W of OZ. Oil--oil,
