Can you get an online BA in anything in 18 months?

I'm trying to help a friend land a job for a quasi government company. They will pay for his schooling but they want him to have a BA degree in anything... but he has to have the degree in the next 18 months.

He is willing to spend an additional $10k to make sure he gets his degree in whatever.

What creative options are out there?

Have you, I mean, has your friend accumulated any college credit to date?

yeah this is the real question. if you have some transferable credits, sure. otherwise it's gonna be a rough go to get 4 years of academic credit done in less than 2.

I don't see how it could be done unless is something like kinesiology.

I have a BA in econ, he has zero credits. He checked every box for the job and they like him but he doesn't have a degree. The guy with the job now retires in 18 months.

    PS

I would benefit financially if my friend got this job.

He going to have to work at the same time?

Doable if he devotes 60 hours a week to it and takes a double load. That would be a tough ask for anyone for two years straight to hold a job on top of.

WGU does self-paced online stuff. Maybe you could do it through them if you seriously beast it out.

I've got nothing, but would love to hear more about this "quasi government company".

His work load is near zero there now.... sound like the government?

I thought it would a bit of work for 1 guy but maybe 20 guys in India could bang it out?

Indeed! Now, entertain the following conjecture: required courses, anything; minimum GPA, anything, testing standards, anything... I'd seriously look into a second BA/BS if I could major in "Anything".

You might also want to look up self paced online college courses. Can't remember the name of a California college but they let people take courses at your own pace. I do know it was accredited by the GI Bill so there was at least a somewhat of an official accreditation.

It also requires a colorado masters electrician license. I guess a sparky masters and a ba are not that common.

I'd be wary of working for a company that is that retarded.

"We really like you, and you meet all the qualifications for the job, but we require a degree. You'll need to get a degree in 18 months."

    That's retarded.

probably working for booz allen or one of those govt contractors
Hiring is their #1 challenge to growing revenues- they have to keep up a high pace and are willing to pay for headcount
also recruiters in this industry are making bank right now too bc it's so tough to keep the #'s up (not to mention almost all govt budgets are up this yr too and they have to use it or lose it)
