36’ Sabre… it is a nice boat and the owner takes care good care of it. He’s headed to Nova Scotia for 5 weeks cruising this Summer so had lots of things on the to-do list this year.

First race of the season for us on Lake Champlain. Normal crew is 5...we only had 3 today. Goniff, the boat owner, and me. We were busy AF. Solid 8-10 kts of wind (forecast to be light and variable so it was a nice surprise). Cold start to a hot finish.

Haven't seen the official results yet but we were first across the line despite a pretty severely botched start. We did have to give time to most of the boats behind us.

We have 7 in the rotation for a crew of 5 and Peruvian is our first alternate (he was traveling yesterday). Holiday weekend and lots of "my wife will kill me...." Our main problem in August will be who gets cut.

Awesome! Took my buddy’s boat we race on out of the marina yesterday for a quick shakedown and tried out the new head sail. Not much wind, but got her back home and may head out again today.

Anyone who has followed the Great Salt Lake knows that it hit it's record low last year. However the 903 inch winter here in utah has brought the lake up significantly. The skiing was incredible BTW. Snowbird is still open[emoji608]. Meanwhile, I have been hammering out boat projects.

It has been months of work.
Fixed the keel damage, bottom paint, gelcote, laid down new teak and mahogany floor, drilled multiple holes in the boat, thru hull - knot meter and depth gage, new instruments topside, multiple wiring projects, new wind indicators and so many more I cannot list them all.

All this in preparation to launch soon. I am so beyond stoked. I'll be sailing soon [emoji569]

One of the (many) drawbacks of living near Toronto is the shit skiing, but one of the (few) benefits is access to a huge lake with lots of sailing opportunities and constant evidence against any flat-earthers. My dad owns a J120, and we raced the Susan Hood this past Fri/Sat. The Susan Hood Trophy race is an annual event on the first Friday of June. It's a 75nm race that starts at 8:00pm. Typically we finish around noon the next day. Sometimes the wind is cranking and we've finished at 8am. Other times it's dead and we've finished at 4pm. Other times, it's so dead we turn on the motor and just bail.

This race is usually COLD AF too, because although the air temp is around 75F these days, the water temp is only about 50F so once the sun goes down.... brrrrr! This year, however, the water temp is somehow 70F so I wore shorts the whole time and just put on a light jacket in the evening. Wind was generally steady, allowing for downwind sailing the first 2 (longest) legs. The final was just a nice close-hauled blast in to some fairly large swells for 4 hours in 20kt wind. It was wet, to say the least, so thank goodness for the warm water temp. We finished at 11:30am.

I was on a sailboat in lake Erie last week, it was cool!
My cousin in his native habitat. He comes out skiing to Utah, and when I'm in Erie he takes me on the boat. Good deal.

Got out on the water for the first time of the season this afternoon. Doremite and his kids and non-mag TC were the crew. We started
off with very light winds but had a decent breeze for about 45 minutes of our 2 hour sail.

^Thanks again for the sail and accommodating the kids. Despite the mild wind it was a beautiful day to be on the water.

Yesterday was a hoot on Lake Champlain. Forecast called for winds 8-10 out of the north/northwest. Skipper contemplated going with the 150 headsail but we decided that the 135 would likely be enough.

Good thing. Winds built all day until they were blowing 15-20 by the last leg of the race. Saw more than a couple of boats get wiped out and try to change sails with 2-3 foot waves and pretty strong winds.

We won our class by a pretty large margin and passed several of the boats in the spinnaker class that started 5 minutes ahead of us.
