On an inland body of water that is 11% salt near some of the best skiing on the planet.

How many of these UFOs y’all think are whales?
I guarantee this is why the whales are ramming yachts in the Stait of Gibraltar - they’re pissed off.
I still call it The Jake.
How about containers? They're more dangerous than whales. And there's a lot more of them, I'd bet.
30-40 years ago, I'd say whale.

Whole new race with Thompson, Davies, and Simon running north. I'm so rooting for LeCam to take it now - it would be huge for him to beat all the foiling boats and what a fucking rescue. And the crazy part is just starting - heading into the run along the edge of the ice zone all the way to cape horn.
And once the Vendee Globe is over, it'll be no time until the Americas Cup with crazy foiling monos this time - like giant 75' moths. Designers said they're more like airplanes - in the air all the time, the design focus was on the aerodynamics of the entire hull and rig rather than hull shape and hydrodynamics:

COVID-19 update | 0800hrs 18 December 2020
Important information for competitors and spectators
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) is continuing to plan for the running of the 2020 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The CYCA is closely monitoring the recent NSW Health COVID-19 advisory warnings for Sydney’s Northern Beaches and the current Tasmanian Government exclusions.
The CYCA continues to work with NSW Health and the Tasmania Department of Health and we will put any additional measures in place to ensure that the Race remains COVIDSafe.
The CYCA premises remain open, however, the Club asks Members and guests to strictly adhere to NSW Health’s guidelines.
The Club will have further discussions with the Tasmanian Department of Health this morning and provide an update later in the day.

Can I come over and sail with you, mang?
I was just looking at an all but abandoned little sloop approx 22' on a trailer with flat tires about a mile from my house. Mast and rigging is there, saw a tiller in the cockpit. Folding centerboard/keel (nice!), no companionway hatch by the looks of it, and the sail will be the most crucial item to ask about as I investigate it further. This looks a one of those damn near free boats but it also looks like it has good bones, for a fiberglass hull. I just don't want to spend $1000 on a new sail.
Evidently, America's Cup is happening right now.
Happened to catch some late night last night

Emirates Team NZ hit 49 knots today. Still not showing everything they got. The American Magic/Luna Rossa races were competitive. American Magic looks faster downwind, but LR looks faster upwind.
49 knots??? Holy shit.
plenty o' updates

What's that like a 26, 28 footer, or more?
Dood. Went and looked again at that one I'm spocking out to buy. Three sails in the forecastle. Looking around 22' . Tiller has been out in the sun so long, it has half evaporated. That's a nothing burger. Might have to build the companionway hatch, too. No biggie. This is just the size I was looking for and the swing keel is a total kicker for lake sailing. I'm excited. It looks worthless because the trailer tires have rotted away.
Well there it is. A small group of fuckwads have managed to insert covid-19 into every conversation on this diverse sports enthusiast board.
I can't speak for everyone but I am getting a bit pissed
Own your fail. ~Jer~
um wut?
HA!!!! I got that little boat on a trailer I was looking at.
A 22 foot MacGregor Venture like this one.
It ain't quite this purty, but, wtf, I only paid $300.

Yeah, those things fly with an oversized outboard.
Tahoe requires four-stroke engines, which are far more expensive than the boat!

That’s quite a purchase for $300! My dad used to have a Macgregor like that when he trailered his boat around. His had a water ballast system and a swinging centerboard. It was a great boat for exploring different bodies of water since it was so easy to trailer and launch. It was a dog of a race boat though. He sold it and bought a Capri 25 when he moved to Sandpoint
Cap'n Splat
Avast! there is a new Captain in town.
I am sure he will be legendary like some of the greats
Captain Cook
Captain Bligh
Captain Blackbeard

Captain Crunch!

She ain't that purty. Lotsa work (and lotsa part buying) but it shall be done.
And to think I almost went $25K for an Express 32 my old partner had.
She held the record for her class SF - Maui.
That swing keel is so awesome. Hope it ain't stuck too bad.
