Finally got kicked off Nextdoor! Everyone and their mother is complaining in damn near every post about how they got plowed in at the end of their driveway after several pretty large valley dumps.

I asked each one of them if they needed help.
Out of 13 offers to help shovel out driveways, not one took me up on the offer. In fact, 4 threads were started purely to just complain and the OP actually told me that fact. Made a few comments and got piled up on saying I’m disrespectful to the elderly for calling out their useless complaints.
    I’m so fucking amused!

But I could also ask wtf happened to cnn.
It’s gone whacko left as much as fox has gone whacko right. I’m old enough to remember when cnn was news. Like when mtv was music videos.

I’m not sure there’s a solution. We are more fractured every day.

I do like the idea of renaming it the Boomer News Network.
Both CNN and Fox have, over the years, replaced a lot of minutes of news coverage with editorial programming--the latter is generally cheaper to create and gets better ratings. Actually covering news requires a lot more effort than taking shit, and Fox does have some actual news coverage with journalists and everything. Neither is my cup of tea--I don't think that you can sufficiently cover any serious topic in the time they give to a single story--but the actual news coverage remains a very different type of content than the usual talking heads.

I don't think anyone really knows the difference between editorial opinions and news anymore. It should have to be labeled as such but I doubt even that would help. It is crazy how mind controlling some of this shit can be. Just a charismatic speaker, who introduces an idea, then reinforces it over and over with help from other opinionated folks on the same channel. Next thing you know, this idea has become accepted as fact. It is 100% propaganda mind control and with this strategy you could easily convince people that they could shove food up their ass and poop out their mouth and they'd believe it (south park).

Youtube. And the 5 minutes of whatever you're watching that you fast forward thru as the Tuber hawks some sponsor shit and pleads with you to support the channel thru Patreon or some other PtP payment system.

    Could you imagine a YouTube/Nextdoor mash-up?

    Now that would be amusing.

I have a shitload of CD's. I wated to put some on my computer to put on my Ipad for travel. I had to buy a disc player to plug into the laptop. I thing I did two CDs and then never got around to doing any more.
Last I checked which was about 4 years ago the thing that still uses CD's is sending xrays from one health system to another. Maybe they've figured out how to do it online since then.

Yeah my current laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD drive so I had to buy an external one. I did the same, wanted to rip all my CDs so I could get rid of them. Also have some programs I use that install via CD, and wanted to create a recovery disc for an old laptop. Thought I'd use it more to burn discs so I bought a costco pack of blank CDs. Still have about 47 out of 50 of them blank.

I used CDEx a few years ago to rip all my discs. It'll label and organize your tracks. I stuck all of it online and on my Plex server. I think the discs went to the DI.

    Lol ripping CDs

Music Lovers: Any reason you can't just assume that since you bought a license to that music with your CD, you are not 'pirating' when you torrent a higher quality digital file?

We just recently got some garbage middleman cloud service that allows us to send and retrieve digital images with other systems. The only value add I can see is transferring the HIPAA liability to some fake company in Bermuda, plus I'm sure a few second homes came out of the deal. If a patient wants their own images they are getting a DVD.

One of mine left me alone with the viewer on screen. I exported to jpg and logged into my Gmail account to send it to myself, which to my surprise wasn't blocked.

I got one of the other sets on CD and had to find a viewer for the file type. Now I'd have to borrow the CD drive from work first.

My ‘21 Corolla has no drive, but does have a USB port; I just keep a thumb drive full of MP3s in it. Very convenient.

I think the only CDs I own are in my Tundra.

I still have hundreds (and hundreds) of bootleg tapes from 30 years of collecting and no tape deck. The boxes just sit there patiently waiting for some company.
