Sounds to me like his attitude might suck because of that wife and her family. I agree though, just something about him I don't like.

Now that he went through the downfall, he finally acts like a human.
He genuinely seems appreciative and enjoy being out to play golf.
I do want to see him do well.
He was smiling on the 18th yesterday. It's good to see him be "human". I applaud his comeback.

Reed being the heel is good for golf IMO. We haven't really had one since Vijay Singh.

Didn't know the backstory with the wife and parents... sounds sad. Although it's worth noting that maybe Reed's parents were indeed shitty - hence his behavior and lack of character in college. So maybe his wife is acting quite rationally.

All that stuff about him being cocky and what have you is pretty damn common for high level athletes. Everyone loves Phil, but his nickname is FIGJAM afterall.

That's not "noting." It's speculation. We just don't know. Chicken/egg. That he was an asocial dishonest miscreant in college might indicate his propensity to fabricate lies about his parents.

Years ago I went on a couple dates with a woman who claimed her parents beat her, raped her and performed satanic rituals in their basement. It was all too weird for me, so I stopped seeing her. Soon thereafter I met her brother and sister, both of whom said she suffered from profound delusions, that the parents never laid a hand on the kids and that they had a normal healthy family life. They also advised that the woman was seeing a recovered-memory therapist who by all appearances had planted false memories in her mind -- and in the minds of other patients.

Reed strikes me as one of those guys that will go all road rage on an old lady. I bet he has kicked dogs and throws rocks at cats. I imagine he freaks on anyone knocking on his door that needs help. He most likely prays to some demon and sold his soul to win the Masters.

On the other hand he might be like most golfers. Full of himself and now he has a green jacket to back it up. He's going to be insufferable for a long time.

Then again I don't know this asshole so I shouldn't speculate

Yeah, it was bizarre. I did some reading about it. Bogus recovered-memory therapy was a big thing in the 1990s. It ripped apart many families. Frontline aired an excellent 2-part documentary about it in the mid-1990s. It included a case study of a family ripped apart by a quack therapist guru. Tragic stuff

I didn't tell the entire story above. I got the hell out when she begged me to attend a recovered-memory therapy session with her guru

Hope you got some action up front for having to deal with that kind of crazy for a few dates.

The opportunity was there but I backed away for fear that she might falsely accuse me of a crime. Based on stuff I heard a few years later, I think I made the correct play.

The weird thing is that the couple of dates were 95% non-crazy. She was fit and attractive, liked to hike, run and ski, smart and had a good sense of humor. On the first date she mentioned the satanic ritual/rape thing in passing. I thought maybe it was merely sick humor but I was sufficiently wary to keep her at arms length. At the end of the second date I realized it was not a joke, that she genuinely believed the so-called "recovered memories."

Geez, I haven't thought about this for a long time.

Yeah, hence the word "maybe" in my sentence.

recovered memory therapy broke up a family I knew. it was tragic. the eldest daughter accused the father of rape.

It takes singular selfish focus to be a great champion. Especially in golf.

Did she pick that hideous necklace?

Walking up the 18th hole, Bill, Jeannette and Hannah were surrounded by police officers. They ultimately were escorted off the grounds and had their tournament badges confiscated by a USGA official who, according to Jeannette, said he was acting on Justine's wishes.
How the hell is this even legal? They had tickets to the tournament. Are you telling me the players can boot out people they decide they don't want there? That's pretty strange.

Karma is a bitch and it has a way of rewarding good and burn those that do despicable things.
Imagine his daughter wanting nothing to do with him and Justine.

    THE MASTERS

It seems like the wife is the master mind and employees her side of family.
    A good wife doesn’t separate a family.

I caddied a few events for a good friend who did ok on tour, there are some shitty whiny people on it. And then there's Rory Sabbatini...

Sean O’hair had a similar family function. Seems like wife support is working out pretty well for both these guys.

I laughed and am glad he has faded. The other Rory is way more likable.
