Why you should own a Stockli Stormrider

Hey all, what’s the going price for a 2017-18 stormrider 95, with warden 11 demos? I’m thinking of buying them off my friend’s dad. Lightly used previous demos, with a dozen days of use from an older, intermediate skier. I want to offer a fair price, but I rarely see used stocklis for sale!

They rip! Put 4 days on them last season. Such a fun ski that loves the gas pedal. Nice feeling that long effective edge and turn radius.

I'm not a charger but started skiing faster and more confidently since I upgraded to Mach 1 130 boots and katana 108 last year. But I will never go full mach chicken again due to injury and age and being the father of a 3 year old... Yadda yadda.

I love the idea of damp and quiet... That's what I want.

In my low tide quiver right now is a Salomon rocker 2 100 which is easy to ski but still decently damp. Edge hold is sometimes lacking... But I actually really love these skis and how approachable they are.

I don't want to always be on my game 100% in this quiver spot.

The price is ok but still kind of expensive compared to what I usually buy, because Stockli.

How bad do I want these?

Not Stockli, but any time you want to give my Bonafide 97s a go, you’re welcome to them.

Single Ref point - I bought my 17-18 SR 105s two years ago with warden 13 demo clamps. From the resort’s demo fleet. Five days on them, of which two days were me. Fresh base grind.

    I paid $400.

Anyone compare the Stormrider 95 to the Mantra M6? I picked up a mint pair for cheap last year, but I already have and like the M6. Stockli magic superior?

    I have the 175 Stockli and the 184 M6. I'm 5'8" 155 lbs. Self-taught advanced skier.

    Now you can.

I think a more apt comparison is the 175 SR95 and 177 M6, especially at your weight, but maybe you haul ass, in which case you should get a longer Stormrider. My personal opinion is that the M6 is close to a race ski in feel, locks into a turn aggressively, and doesn't especially like uneven snow or fresh snow. The SR95 is more versatile, works fine off the groomed, and can be persuaded to change radius mid-turn if needed. It also transmits less chatter to your legs for some reason, whereas the M6 feels like a live wire.

FWIW, I've skied both the Stormrider 95 and Völkl M6 in 184, and they both felt planky (5'8" and 174 today, a bit lighter when I skied them). YMMV. For comparison, my daily drivers are the Rustler 11 in 188 and the Black Crows Atris in 184.

Nice to see the Stockli love. The 2015 SR95s were my everyday ski for years in the PNW, one of my favorite skis ever, and still the gold standard that all others get compared to. I skied them probably 90% of my free skiing days, though I generally prefer a bit narrower ski than most for everyday.

Ended up absolutely crushing a buried rock, blew out the sidewall and broke the core, but surprisingly little base or edge damage for the severity of the hit. I may have shed a tear over retiring them!

Had them in a 192, I’m 6’ 175. If I skied someplace like alpental I’d have been happy on the 182 I’m sure, but my home mtn was Crystal, with more room to let them run and the 192s were a blast.

I replaced them with bonafide 98s, in the 187. While the two skis do the same things well, SR95s hands down for me. The SR95s just seemed to be as stable and powerful in variable snow as the Bones but somehow easier skiing, better float in powder and better on groomers too. On Mindbender 90s now for this quiver spot. Better than Bones for me, but not like the SR95s.

Might be time to get back on some Stocklis.

I’ve got the DP in a 201, amazing ski and not as unfriendly as the reputation…no speed limit.

Just joined the club. 192 Stormrider 95s from 2013, brand new for £150 ($170). I couldn't resist. Very excited to get them on snow!

The Scott Schmidt Stormriders that Joe linked and I bought showed up. Remarkably good condition with what I gather is their original camber, ie tons. One core shot and just a little oxidation on the edges. I can re use one of the mounts but I need some STH 14 or 16. Anyone holding? I’m looking forward to the WROD.
