Too lazy to go back and search. Does anyone remember approx when the first price increase was? cant believe its time to start thinking about this already. Have to renew Indy by march 21 to guarantee it. TKS

I am not sure it's always been consistent, but the early season price will last for at least a month or more.

    Ikon Pass

There could be a bit of a premium priced into “full ikon” now as it includes JH and aspen. In the past (prior to 2? 3? Years ago JH and aspen were included).

So myself plus 2 kids (5-12), looking at:
    full 1597
    base 1177
    base plus 1837

Not sure why anyone would get base plus pass, $59 less than full for an adult. Base is about $100 more for me & kids than last year, seems like typical yearly increase. On track to use it at least 20 times this year, so about $50 per day.

I already have early trailforks subscription which became outside+, for $17.99/year...not sure how that will work with the new Ikon benefit.

I sent them an email asking about kid prices, because it makes zero sense for the base plus pass for a kiddo to cost $150 more than a full pass. That has to be an error.

Jackson and Aspen are included in the full pass now, and always have been, IIRC.

And they replied quickly that it is not an error. So, as near as I can tell, if you have a 5-12 year old and want to go to Jackson, you pretty much have to buy a full pass? But if you don't have a 5-12 year old you can purchase a Plus pass?

There is zero reason for a plus pass to cost more than a full pass. But I doubt I will get an explanation.

    Next year,
IKON pass holders need to make a reservation in order to ski Deer Valley.

There's nothing (that I could see) that says the parent and kid have to have the same level pass. You should be able to have a Base+ and get the discount on the kids full. I agree it does not make a lot of sense on the pricing, but should work if the blackouts work for you.

That was essentially their reply to my follow up question. The pricing makes absolutely no sense because there is literally zero reason I can see to buy a plus pass for a 12 year old. But if you want to go to Jackson with your kid, and only want a Plus pass, buy the plus pass for yourself and the full pass for your kid.

The Ikon Base Plus upgrade is a flat $220 regardless of age, on top of the price of the Ikon Base Pass for that pass holder. This is an upgrade product to the Ikon Base Pass which is why it is a flat $220 regardless of age. For some ages, it makes more sense to purchase the Ikon Pass than the Ikon Base Plus Pass due to that. The Ikon Base Pass itself, and the Ikon Pass pricing is determined by the age of the pass holder. You do not have to hold the same type of pass as your child, and should purchase whichever pass makes the most sense for each passholder after considering access, blackout dates, and price. You can still get the child discount (while available) if you purchase the Ikon Base Plus Pass for yourself, and the Ikon Pass for your child in the same transaction.

Yeah - irrational retail pricing is nothing new. Just look at the menu at a coffee joint next time you go to one...

I get the idea of pricing that pushes you to one product or another, like when the 3 piece meal is $8 and the 6 piece meal is $9. But this is more like the 6 piece meal is $6 and the 3 piece meal is $8.

But only for kids. Think of it that they don't even offer a Base+ for kids.

Funny thing about this analogy is there was a time where the total price to buy two 6 piece chicken nugget meals was cheaper than buying one 10 piece meal from McD.

    exactly.

but why are they even offering it if it literally makes no sense for anyone, anywhere, to buy it?

Yeah , I'm going to re-up, as philosophically opposed as I am to early lock in, reservations, duopoly, etc, this pass covers all the VT and western mtns we usually hit, so it's a no brainer. Between week in. Jackson with the fam, Aspen w no kids (thank God), alta/bird and Killington / Sugarbush , we save a shitton vs day tickets even without a local option . Really really wish there was a local PA bump on there for quick day trip and / or a Catskills place that doesn't blow, but it's still the best deal for our use patterns, especially w two kids under 12 which makes the all in cost a great deal

Let me know when the group buy is up so we can help.out the collective.

Its fine for the 5 year old,.not enough trees steep trails or interesting terrain for the 9 yo. Went earlier this year since we had the pass. It's not awful, just my least favorite of the 4 Catskills mtns. All the crowds of Hunta w/o the terrain.
