So tranny is a hate slur? Isn't trans commonly.used? Or is ikon a hate slur?

Maybe when someone points out a word is a slur, you shouldn't just keep saying it anyway. Yes, trans is ok (when used with respect), but the other word is not. It's not rocket surgery. Just don't be a dick about it and try to learn something.

In December 2018 I paid $1049 for a full pass. Kind of surprising honestly, could have sworn it was like $800 back then.

If you bought in December 2018, that was after all the incremental price increases, not the lowest preseason price

Its interesting to me that they claim that there are "no blackouts" on the full pass, when in reality places like Jackson are blacked out weeks and months in advance for any high use periods. I understand the need to control crowds, and its also quite clear that Alterra has limited leverage with some of the marquee partner resorts, but the concept that you are getting unfettered access with the full pass is simply not true, and I dont understand how they can market that.
Back on topic, yes I saw the reservation requirement. I haven't had issues getting reservations, but I haven't tried to do a reservation on a holiday. DV gets crazy the week of President's Day, so I expect that it may be difficult for high demand days. That said, one of the families I rode the chair with this past year said that in their circle of friends it is Sun Valley that is the hot place now.

With DV, it is extra intriguing because they are the first Alterra owned resort to require reservations. There was a definite anti-Ikon sentiment among the locals, but Ikon seemed to make up ~60% of the traffic. It was definitely the majority of the people there. On the DV Instagram, people are super antsy to make their reservations and they are saying early summer.

It was a nice refresher minimizing my time at Ikon resorts, and I plan to do the same for next year.

It still comes down to only 7 1/2 days for the Base pass, the full pass 10 1/2 days, for breakeven at the $110/day 4 day pass.

I think I can cover that with two years of Spring and Summer at PTOV and Mammoth, without missing a day at the Wood.

Wow. Just wow. But we move on.

No word yet on group buy. But from previous years the low down.

Renewal price is the best price. I just got a renewal offering and did not have a pass this year so renewal price seems good if you had a pass in 21/22 at least.

Group price has been about 80% of the discount of renewal. So $40 or $80 off adult.

    Here is the difference.

Group price usually does not go up until a few weeks to a month after renewal price first goes up. And the group price will go up 1-3 times during the summer but has been open until the end of August. So if you are saving money, not ready to put down, on the fence, etc you have more time to make the call.

And this one is important: even if you are renewing please join the group. The bigger the group, the better the group benefits are. More details can be shared in PM but please hold off PMs until you see a thread posted in gearswap.

It is sad what these mega passes are doing to the industry. Kirkwood was a different place before it was bought by Vail. So folks prefer the new place. I think the SF based property owners are happy enough. But the place has lost a lot of its soul over the past decade. The terrain remains the same.

Buzzworthy - the anti woke have a definition - woke is anything that makes them nervous and unsure of themselves. Traditional, as an urban slang term, it means someone who is on top of their shit and aware of the world around them. Such a scary thought. Better to live life clueless.

The last time I skied was April 2018? @ Mammoth. In December 2018 1 took 1 run on my Mt Rose Season pass. My legs were gone.

So now after Surgery I have legs but have not Skied. I do not have Transportation
Should I buy an ICON pass and see what transpires? Stay in the Hotel @ Squaw or Mammoth - They are covered under ICON correct?

900$ hum I have it Is this the way to go?

This year I got a full pass thinking I would make the usual trip to JHMR and or Aspen but that didn't happen. I still used the pass but was thinking base pass next season.
I was bummed to see they added Alta, snowbasin, taos to base plus. I don't care about deer valley or sun valley.
The base plus is about the price of full pass.
779 base to 1059 full is 280 more...
Do you get any discounts if you have a base pass but want to ski one of those places?

    Edit: can't forget the $10 credit [emoji846]

I understand they are trying to protect the value of a full DV pass, but in reality selling a blackout pass, then selling a non blackout unrestricted holiday pass that ultimately ends up blacked out on holidays due to reservation availability is total bullshit, especially for a mountain that they own. I can see that the partner resorts may not agree to be on Ikon without reservations, but that's not the case here.

They need to stop promoting the top pass as unrestricted.

DV clientele maybe have more sway, $$$$, than many of the others? Crystal is Altera owned as well, located near a major city and implemented restrictions at least last year. So there is some precedence.

Ah,.my bad didn't know that. Still stands that the marketing as "no blackouts / unrestricted" is a bit false. Most people who buy the unrestricted pass do it so they specifically can ski on the busy holiday weekends.

I got $125 since I only got 2 days on my pass that year. ☹️

But I can say that the “everyone bought Epic and flooded Stevens (for the Pugetopolis crowd) is a bit of a stretch. Shortest weekend lines I have seen in a long time. Whistler has been a lot busier this year, but for my $589 Epic Local pass, I’ll endure it. Plus, I can buy passes for myself and my two sons for the price of Ikonic unlimited skiing at Mt Dweebus! But can you actually return from skiing on a Sunday? I’ve heard many epic and horrified tales of parking and highway 2 clusters this year. FWIW I’ve only been up there twice this year, left before 2 each time and have been ok.

That right there is the key. Just leave before 2 pm. Only got stuck in the Sultan back up once this year and it was because we stayed too long on a Saturday. Sundays just suck because you get west sliders returning from Leavenworth and long weekends at Mission. It’s even worse in the summer with all the Chelan traffic. But again, not as bad as reports would lead one to believe.

What has been great this year is night skiing. They added Wednesday nights back and those have been amazing. Light skier traffic during the day and great conditions when you arrive later.

I know they are working hard as part of an apology tour for the debacle that was last year, but it really does feel more like the Stevens Pass of years ago.

Skiing around Pugetopolis is a mess. I just do my best to navigate it and still enjoy my time on snow. [emoji16]

    That's not what I said [emoji57]

Crystal did not get the season pass sales they wanted because many in Pugetopolus went Ikon figuring they had 10-14 days between Crystal and Alpental (let's not kid ourselves that they are skiing Central/West, they only ski "the best"). Some may have done Stevens/Epic, but that's a further haul for many Crystal skiers. We've definitely seen a big increase from Ikon, particularly on big days at Alpental. They've been there since Ikon started but it was a noticeable increase this year.

I'll just be interested to see if they correct on their season pass pricing. Maybe they like it less crazy this year. I know Crystal skiers aren't bitching even a fraction of what they were last year. I assume from the BOGO offer during Feb (the busiest ski month outside of Christmas) they were expecting some different visitation patterns.

Yes I also think skiing at all the western WA areas is both really fun and kind of a mess depending on the time/day. Highway 2 is a real sometimes-food for me due to the traffic. Pick your poison/pleasure, right? I only got out for one night ski this year but loved it. Happy to hear that Stevens operations have rebounded somewhat - we at least need all areas functional to spread people out a bit!
