Yes--the vaccine is not close to 100% effective but it reduces the severity and even if it only protects 30% that significantly reduces the flu burden in the community and the number of people who are exposed to the virus.
Fortunately, the federal government is appropriating a huge amount of money to develop a universal, life-long vaccine. (Just kidding about that.)
