I wasn't sure what this beer actually was. No description on the can or that I could find on the website. But dark is good this time of year, right?

Not a stout or porter but was fairly dark with a decent roasty/smoke note. Turns out it is a dark lager.

I've never understood the point of dark lagers or black IPAs. But this one was pretty good. 5.3%

Much of Germany disagrees. So you don’t like dunkels, bocks, or marzens?

My Costco has Deschutes "The Abyss" barrel-aged imperial stout for $16 for a 12 ounce four-pack right now.

Good ol unibrow. That's a great beer but I'm not sure it hits the spot for me any more. My tastes have changed. But unlike beers that I truly dislike, I can still tell it's a good beer. Anyone ever experience that?

I'm getting that way with IPAs. Still like some of them but pretty tired of them in general.

    Big Beers

Did a vertical of some of Firestone's Anniversary Ales. All 12% or bigger
Had 2013 thru 2016 and a 2023. If you're into the barrel-aged stuff, it was a really good night.

Yeah, it's still my go-to style but for the most part I rarely seem to have one that stands out anymore.

Ya that Fin du monde is pretty good stuff, Guldendraak another belgian Tripel is available in BC that will also kick yer ass,
the local craft brewmasters will sometimes do a beer with super high % of alcohol which is nice to have around but i don't want to drink it all the time

Localy the more normal craft brew tells me the lager is their big seller, the more eclectic craft brew where the wierder people hang tells me the IPA is their big seller, they both have a couple of mainstays IPA & Lager but change it up with other different recipes

a lot of beers out there depending on your taste, a local cheramn implant said to me they don't know how to brew beer here so I countered a ridiculous statement with another ridiculous statement that he should probably go back to where he came from ... he didnt say anything

recentley I been liking a great italian pilsner, a strongish IPA and a red ale

Ha, guess I'm an idiot because I didn't realize those fall under the lager category. I do like them though. But staying firm on not liking black IPAs.

    More

Stopped at Wander brewing in Bellingham and then at a bottleshop in Portland to see what's up. Had the winter spice lager, the imperial stout and a sour after the guy poured that for me by mistake. All were good. Brought the export stout for later consumption.

Found this one at home in a cupboard, must have been there since 2022. Not a fan, combined ingredients plus over the top sour was not a good combo.

    Roger that.

He has 2 more saisons in the rotation and all are incredible. I will be picking up multiple tall boys for a friends up coming Belgian beer bash.
