I think they are what I’m looking for..
I had the 181 slicer at one point. Have the 187 menace 98 now. The 187 does seem to come from different stock, fwiw.

Softer is good for my kids right now. They have Atomic SL and they need a GS.

Unlike some others… full fan boi here I come. Except for boots. I am not going through the new boot process.

Just waiting for my clamps to arrive. Mounting point looks good on my mfree99. That tail ricker/splay makes it fairly progressive i guess. Are most mounting these st recommended?

Both 182 and 192 M-Free 108s feel good on the recommended line to me. I don’t see any reason to deviate from that.

Nah, I only have the 192s. I initially got the 182s but they were too short so I swapped for the longer length.

It's true, Dyna rep said as much when he first set me up with a pair of 187s. Apparently the shorter lengths have different core materials, less hardwood or something.

You guys are making me think a 187 Menace should be my next low tide/groomer ski. I've got a a 187 Bonafide, but have never really loved it. Sounds like the Menace has enough backbone to still ski groomers reasonably hard.

Would I reach for a Menace over an MFree 108 enough to justify them?

Another great day on the MFree 108. Fresh stuff was knee deep. Handled the wind blown, the fresh upside down, the chop, and firm groomers.

I had a wider ski in the truck; it stayed there. I just wish I could ski as well as this ski skies.

I hope so. I’m not in the 108 club but spend 1/3 my days on 105s and 1/3 my days on OG LPs.
I am stoked to see how similar the shape and cut of the Menace is to the 186 OG LP. Looks like a modernized version with a bit of early rise and softer tip. I might cut the tails off so I don’t smoke out my kids..

Still haven’t gotten the 99 onto anything other than man made hardpack but I’m thinking I may have to move the mount back. Feels like I neutered the ski, was expecting a little more oomph out of the tail.

Man are we off to a shitty start here

    The Dynastar Thread

Was lusting after some k108’s but thinking I’ll try the m-free 108’s first. 184 Volkls seem a little short but the 192 ‘stars might just work.

You’ll honestly enjoy either. I’m really stoked on the 192 MFree 108 right now, but the 184 K108 is more damp and stable than the longer MFree. The 191 K108 is on a whole other level.

I'd still like to try the mf108 but decided on the k108 because I wanted something with unique design elements to try (long comparative running length, subtle rocker, triple radius sidecut).

The mf108 seems like a ski I have tried many versions of before in terms of shape and rocker (albeit very well executed), but the k108 was an entirely new design compared to what I've been on before.

If I can find a demo on the 182 size, I'd take them out for a rip. Demo days at one of my local hills was supposed to be this weekend but was canceled due to covid, but I think they are doing it again in March and will try to make it out for that.

To be fair, I love my MF 108s but they’re really like a beefed up, livelier Soul 7

You guys are quite delicate about your ski preferences, huh?

Is this the "only say universally positive things about dynastar" thread, or am I allowed to discuss dynastar skis in relation to other skis?

Nah. Please do. I truly wanted to hate the MF108 due to me not wanting to buy more skis, crazy right. I am more than willing to critique a ski and point out it’s good points and bad. I have yet to find any bad points about the MFree 108. Slay mid thigh pow, yup, carve RR tracks on firm groomers, duh, mob through chop, u huh, pivot on a dime, yeep, stomp air, check. As far as some talking lacking in stability, I have to call bullshit. I have seriously hauled fucking ass in a ton of different conditions and not once have I felt the ski feel at all unstable, quite the opposite actually.

I think my last post was pretty objective

That's exactly why I would like to try it.

I wasn't even saying anything bad about the mf108, I just shared my thoughts on how I decided between it and the katana... because someone who hasn't tried either was commenting on it above.

I think you mistake the constant stream of unadulterated sarcasm for actual criticism of your opinions. I'm legit curious which skis you're referring to.

in this case, it's all about the wood; there's no metal in the menace 98.
