On the line. If you're a race background guy it will feel "forward" "pivoty" "playful".

If you're a park rat maybe forward but even then...

Would I regret mounting on the line?

I briefly tried the 182s at the end of last season and thought they felt great on the line. I wouldn’t have wanted to go forward on those.

Race background?! Sking on the line will likely feel quite progressive to you.

Yeah, literally the only reason for mounting forward would be if I was wanting to ski/land switch in pow. If anything I think it would be LESS playful there, as you would feel more of the mid-ski stiffness and have more tail behind you.

All I'm saying ( and this hasn't been the case on older dynastars) is the mount point is very dialed, and you'd mount forward ONLY if you knew you needed it.

Maybe should go in the mount your own fucking skis thread but…picked up these m pro 99w’s for the oldest daughter over the summer. About $250 us in the plastic. She’s psyched because it’s hard to find a reasonably burly all mountain ski for a racer kid

DC, ski raced from 9 through college and just got these two beauties mounted - no way would I go forward of the line…. Grew up on Dynastar and quit skiing them after LPs and XXLs as I hated the Chams…. The flex and heft will of the M-Frees have me all tingly and excited to be back on Dynastar…

Jeezuz, he likely was asking which model. This place is so fucking testy. Bring on the snow please.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Don't know yet, just got a pair. Will report back in a few months. Flex feels pretty solid, more solid than the 182 Mfree108, pretty much inline with the 192 Mfree108.

I imagine the tail on the mfree 108 would be pretty punishing forward of the line.

Good point actually, hadn’t considered bringing them through bumps with a longer tail. Reminds me of skiing the 191 (or was it 192) Kartels + 2cm. Those tails really let you hear about it in bumps.

Thanks all! I appreciate the help and votes for mounting on the line. Sounds like I can do so in sound conscience.

Undertow, both rad setups but genuinely curious as to why you went with two very similar skis. I'm debating heavily between the two, shop price Dynastar is super enticing but ON3P (long time BG user) build quality and thinking the Woodsman will be the more damp and locked in of the two has me leaning in that direction.

I know that the WD110 has been updated since the WD108, but I had a 187 WD108 and 192 MFree 108 last year and sold the WD108. It was a really nice all-mtn ski with a soft snow bias but it was actually a bit boring in a “Jack of all trades, Master of none” kind of way. It is more damp and quiet than the MFree108 but the Dynastar is more fun and dynamic. I also agree that they WD108 felt more natural on edge and more confidence inspiring on groomers at speed. The MFree108 is also looser and easier to toss around in powder and tight spots. The MFree108 is skis like a narrower Billy Goat in those conditions.

I ultimately sold the WD108 because is was close to the MFree108 but not as fun for the conditions I get to ski frequently. I could see someone skiing in different conditions regularly making a different decision.

The last factor was I also own a 184 Katana K108. That ski is like a whole other level beyond something like the WD108…better on firm snow, more damp, more stable, more of a charger. I took the MFree and Katana with me to the mountain most days last year and covered 95% of conditions with those two.

Curious to see what people think about the updated Woodsman. Again, good ski but not exciting IMO.

Disclaimer: only skied the 182 MF108.

The M Free 108 sits between an WD110 and a BG110. Looser and more pivoty than a WD110 is spot on. This isn’t the ON3P thread but the WD110 is going to carry the turn through the tails more completely than the WD108. WD110 is going to pick up the turn further up the ski than the MF108 does and wants you further up the ski. YMMV.

Took a screenshot for future reference. Need to demo a 192 108 mfree this year

Dammit! I haven't even skied my katanas yet but now I want some mfree 108s as well... but I just CAN'T!
