Hmm, do I need a pair of M Free 108s? (Too lazy to backtrack through the thread.) I loved Legend XXls and 105s. I like Cochises, didn't like Rustler 11s. The big tail rocker on the M Free has me concerned. Is this a stronger ski than the Rustler 11?
never mind.

Haha, full discloser one of those pairs are mine the other 4 are claimed by different maggots!
Idk, maybe the next Mfree is better, but I have a hard time imagining that.

My prediction is it will feel the same. Bigger difference is gonna be the new boots you’re rolling and the relative change in foot position and stance due to a more precise fit.
I don’t fear the change of the Mfree as the Mpro is the tool if you want to point it down the hill. I’m in love with that ski, can’t wait to get back on it this year. I mean the Mfree is awesome but the Mpro goes to 11 without beating you to death like the chargers of old.
And the mpro115 gives me a chub just thinking about it. Curious if they will do the same thing as the 108 and make the big boy size 2mm wider.
Joining the club on a cheap. Very cheap.
A sentimental purchase: my very first experience with the wide skis was a borrowed Cham pair.
Ok ok ok. So how long do the m-free 108 192 ski? I have the 189 118’s and find them pretty manageable. Think I might jump on this bandwagon.
Meh. Depends on style. You don’t have a very playful style, very singular, not a dig either, the Mpro fits you better. For guys that like to pop off random shit, be in the air more, want a little quicker ski, yes the mfree is quicker, it’s the ski. Lighter will not be a good thing, for me at least. The mfree is already pushing lower edge on weight for a resort playful/charger. This ski fits perfectly with a DD that I have no issues charging on, a lot of us don’t. Is it as smooth and damp as the pro? Nope, pretty close though. Better in the air and lower swing weight, yes.
Plus you have a way of hyping whatever ski you are on at the time, history doesn’t lie, hello sakana… best Schweitzer ski evAr, you opined. Lol!
Maybe the new mfree will be better, not willing to take a chance and see. Grabbed another pair.

I shoulda snatched up the cheap new set in gear swap recently. Darn
I agree; with this 2F.
When it’s frozen shit fuck with chicken heads thrown in the MPro reigns supreme. That said; in most other conditions I’d grab the Mfree for its playful attributes and my personal skiing style.
For me it’s the perfect travel/doitall ski as it will make nearly any condition really fun. From charging big alpine lines to chutes to pow to trees to 3D… yup.

I agree with all of this. Part of it is each generation of Dynastar 108 whatever gets closer and closer to what I want in a ski. The mpro 108 really checks the boxes for me, I loved the LP105 but also love the quickness of Mfree and the float. The Chams were all their own animals, plenty fine but the newer shapes are really really good.
And it was the Pescado not the Sakana. And I still think it’s the best pow ski for skiing Schweitzer on a foggy pow day where you’re in the trees. So fun in tight spaces. You’ll see it’s on the list of skis I regret selling.
I'm looking at the site now and am torn between the MFree 108 192 vs the MFree 118
The consensus is that the 108 is awesome but the 118 is lacking? I want something close to the Shiros which are 120ish underfoot but it is such a loose, fun ski.
Both are great skis. The float on the 118 comes a little more from the middle of the ski, whereas the 108 has more positive tip float. That’s I think where the 118 sometimes doesn’t gel with people. The 118 is also pretty stiff compared to the 108.
The construction, shape, and layup of the Mfree 108 is really something special that makes it float amazingly well for a ski that narrow.
It’s a highly versatile shape that a wide variety of skiing styles seem to mesh with. Either for people who like me who apparently are very one dimensional in our skiing and never catch air or pop off things, and new school freestyle gurus like 2funky who just pop off everything and land switch to the road.
The tip on the Mpro108 and Mfree108 feel similar. The rest of the Mfree108 feel is far looser and more pivot happy. It’s also a little bit of a snappy poppy layup. Definitely still a dynastar feel; damp and quiet yet also able to push a lot of energy out of a turn or a feature.
Ah cool thanks, you made up my mind!~
Huh? I have to recalibrate my hand-flexomat. I've had a look at the 108 several times in stores, but always felt they were too similar to the Wren 108 in the flex. Now, flex isn't everything etc - but they felt pretty strong underfoot. I bought a pair of 118s used unseen, and was surprised at how soft they were.
They really skied chop like you the describe the 108, popping from pile to pile, as compared to my Billygoats who are completely happy just carving through huge piles of semi-soft without missing a beat.
I’m talking how they ski, not how they hand flex. The 108 tail is less demanding imho.
Copy! They’re absolutely on my list. And more > less weight
