Not too deep but too manky. They weren't very fun that day but in all fairness the skis i found to be fun that day were my buddy's spooned lotus 138's. If it's at all soft and deep they are still top nth percentile of all 108'ish skis

    The Dynastar Thread

Idk about the mf108, but I’ve definitely felt undergunned with my bibby’s in California. They were still lots of fun, still but bigger was (or would have been) better.

Anybody have direct comparison between m-pro 99 and mantra m6? I’ve read the free blister reviews for each and the tgr threads. Also, confused about sizing for each.

I skied Mpro 99 in 186 and m102 in 184. They are both stupid versatile. I think the primary difference is the eagerness to pull you into the turn. Blister and ski essentials both say the mpro 99 carves really well but you need to do the initiating yourself, and i agree. The mantra 102 PULLS you in (not TOO turny due to 3d radius and rocker). It's not even a better or worse but a very different personality. Both pivot to shut down speed and carve very well once on edge. The float would have to go to mpro 99 due to way more tip rocker. It did fine for me in deep and manky pockets. I also think the mpro 99 is better in bumps, but both are manageable if you can ski bumps. Whether or not you have skis with more float for powder days and whether you like "manual" vs "automatic" turn initiation would be the deciding factor in which to choose (i would also suggest m102 over m6, never having skied the m6 though). Both are very stable on edge at 186 and 184, respectively, but both have a (pretty high) speed limit bases flat. Fwiw i kept the m102 because i found the way it sucked me into a turn while still being able to pivot addicting. I have fatter and narrower skis. If i didn't the mpro99 might be slightly more versatile

I've had both and preferred M6 in 184 to MPro99 in 186 mostly due to my skiing preference, being more on the edges. M-Pro is and feels lighter, less planted. I only ski bumps when I have to and lower swing weight could benefit there but don't really care. Also not a fan of Dynastar rocker profile. And then there's my new favorite M102 in 191 which beats both pairs in crud, shallow pow, groomers etc. Definitely agree with the statement above on M102 vs MPro99.

I've spent some time on back to back days on my 185 M-Free 99s and 192 M-Free 108s. It has confirmed the obvious, that the 192 108s like space to run and can feel cumbersome when bouncing around in the trees, whereas the 99s are nimble and playful while still having some backbone.

We had a 40 cm day today on the smaller local mountain (Cypress) and I chose to grab the 99s, mainly as an experiment to see how they did in bottomless pow, and with the length being better suited to the terrain. I was blown away. Never once did I wish I was on a fatter ski, and I appreciated how playful and maneuverable they were.

There is lots of hype around those 192 M-Free 108s, but the 185 M-Free 99 is the ski that's really doing it for me at the moment. It makes me wonder if I should be on the 182 M-Free 108s rather than the 192s. The 192s can charge but can feel a bit planky at times.

I haven’t in drier snow but I have in the wet snow we get at MHM. For deeper wet snow days I like my billygoat.

Stereotypical PNW quiver is Volkl M102, MFree 108, Billy Goat. Seems like a lot of us landed there.

2nd time but first full day on my mfee 118, 180cm.

I will reiterate that they are crazy loose.

If you are skiing powder moguls they are amazing.

I had a great day on them but would say my one critique of them is that that are so loose that if you let them run on lower angle pow and you are not paying attention, the skis want to wander a bit and sometimes feel like they bog down or "plow" a little.

My k108 would just track so well I had to adjust. And when I figured how to adjust to what the ski wanted to do I had a really great time.

But the MF118 was a fantastic choice for powder moguls. Not sure I've ever made that many quick turns on a 118mm ski.

I have the exact skis you mentioned plus a few more. The M102, M Free 108, and Billygoats are the one I break out the most often.

Hey MF108 fan bois and girls, can you help guide my choice between 182 and 192?

    Skis I like/ski the most: 184 devastator, 186 Mindbender 116, 186 Renegade.

I'm 6' 160lbs. Primarily ski at alpental, sometimes white pass or mission.

I desire maneuverability, just a little worried that the 182 is going to feel too short. Are there taller folks that are happy on the 182? I'm not afraid of the length of the 192 but I do want something that feels great in the trees.

182 will feel short. I've never felt the 192 was too much at Alpental. It's an awesome ski. Just ordered another pair from Corbetts on their sale.

Skied mine yesterday at Alta, super fun, but felt like I should have hit the entire edge on each ski with a gummie stone before skiing them., the groomers back were interesting. I don’t know if I could ski them bell to bell, but I’m old,

I'm 5' 10" low 160's. I've skied the 192's (courtesy of Optics (thank you very much)) all season at Alpental and Crystal. I prefer trees, moguls, soft snow. I have really enjoyed the ski. In fact, its kind of bananas how easy they are to turn on a dime. I love the shape and plan on picking up some of the M-free 99's. From what I've read here, those may work for you too. Best of luck with the search.

I found them nervous on groomed the first time I tried them as well... put a 2 degree base bevel and slightly detuned the tips and tails and no more issues with that.

I’ve now had a few pairs of Dynastars that felt grabby from the factory. They come very sharp. Significant tip and tail detuning and hitting the base edge with a diamond stone to trim down any hanging burr did the trick.

    Also, I grabbed some 182 M-Free 108 after finding joy on my 185 M-Free 99s. My 192 M-Free 108s **may** go up for sale.

Anyone here skied both the m-pro 84 and the 90? Bought the 84 (nee Legend x84) in 177 cm last year and skied them this season. I'm in the midwest, with one to two trips to Colorado a year. They're fantastic here on the ice and I've yet to have a day at Breckinridge, Crested Butte, or Keystone that they were not good on piste, in the trees and bumps, and on steeps. Yet- a part of me wants a wider ski, but one that will still be good on the ice at home (no room for two skis here). I did not buy the 90 last season because I had not demoed it, and so I was worried it would be too stiff. Yet I hear great things about how good it is all mountain. The only real issue I think I'm having with the 84 (other than some day I'm going to hit too much snow) is that the tails are a bit hard to release in the bumps. I love the tails on piste and on steeps, but when things get tight, I really have to think hard about my form. I wonder if the 90 would fix both things- better flotation when needed and easier to release the tails, while still being good on groomers.
