They don’t pull you into a turn like a ski with less tapered tips, so you need to be more patient with turn initiation and make sure they are weighted properly (forward and outside ski) before really tipping them over. They are more of a GS ski than a slalom ski. As a result, they are maybe a bit much for a smaller hill at the 186 length. But they felt quite stable on edge once I got them going.

The flip side is that they slide nicely in and out of shorter turns. The tapered tips make turn initiation smooth and easy, and the tails feel powerful and snappy without being punishing. I got them in some bumps and open trees off the side of the groomers and they felt good there.

I mounted mine on the recommended line and that feels good. I was a bit nervous about that since the recommended line is much farther back than other skis I have recently used, but the recommended line feels good relative to the sidecut. They actually feel pretty neutral there, not a ski that demands driving the crap out of the tips (other than making sure turn initiation is good, as mentioned above).

In retrospect, something like the M-Free 99 may have been a better call for a ski to be used at a smaller hill, but these will be fun.
I got a couple more days in on the M-Pro 99s and they are less demanding than I initially thought. I think my first impressions were coloured by the refrozen conditions and bumped up groomers, where they were a handful. In softer conditions, they are much more forgiving.

I think chewski’s description is about right. They feel very neutral and don’t exhibit and funny behaviour in any way. They hold a good edge but are not particularly energetic, and they’ll make long and short turns without issue. In tighter spots, they’re not as easy as something with a shorter radius and more tail rocker, but they’re not overly punishing either.

I just have to post these, as I showed them to Marshal, and he was very impressed with my color coordination.

OG LP105s, AD edition, with forza 2.0s.

I skied them today, had forgot how much fun they are.Click image for larger version.

Yeah, these and the Showdowns in the background have some work to do until the 113s and R87s show up. Good thing call load is decent these days. More money for bindings, if not leaving any sanity in place on my end.

The forzas got mounted Monday, making that their fifth and fourth mount (I started mounting them for a fourth with Drivers, but holes conflicting made me shelf the idea after one ski drilled. Pivots were easy.

Now at +3 from the line (85cm straight tape from the tail), actually really like them there.

    The Dynastar Thread

Very pleasantly surprised skiing the MFree 108 192 today, much more solid than anticipated. Conditions were very fast and firm but a good day to test a skis limit. These held excellent, very damp feel. I’m going to borrow them from the rep for a day of better snow conditions to compare to my daily Woodsman 110 192. Another ski that I want to get a day on as well after a few runs is the Kastle 108 191, will have to see how playful that ski can be compared to the MF108, more powerful tail on the Kastle but can still be broken loose.

I finally got to fondle at pair of 182 M-Pro 108s, and man - interesting ski. The tips/tails are not overly stiff which together with copious amounts of camber should yield a ton of traction / suspension. The front rocker is a lot shorter and with a fair bit less splay than M-Pro 99s too, with the effective edge being really long. These must be an ideal tool to hatefuck a mountain. Their mount point at -13.1 is a bit too traditional for me, but still - very, very interesting ski.

I skied on a coworkers pair on a bumped out groomer day, and felt they had kind of a disappointing speed limit. The tips and tails felt soft to the point of being pretty floppy knocked around.

But the pair I was on weren’t anything close to new.

Context clues suggest you were maybe on M-Free 108s not the new-this-season M-Pro 108s?

I saw those and immediately wanted them. But I’ve already got two back of pairs waiting to be mounted. Best. Ski. Ever.

Looking at the 192 M Free 108. But primarily ski east coast and love the trees. Any input/insight on how it performs as an East Coast Ski?

If soft they’re great They ski firm well but I would much rather be on something around 100mm underfoot.

Got for first non-powder day on the MFree 108 for the season. Manky to slushy PNW snow on the lower mountain at Alpental. Man, this ski still puts a smile on my face even now in the 3rd season. Arced big turns down the open runs going fast than I should. Handled bumps awesome.

Took into local shop for a base repair (first day was at Jackson and all their rocks). You know you had a great shot when every guy in the shop comes out to look at the damage. [emoji28] Luckily no base/core damage. So, if I have a nit to pick, a tougher base would be nice.

Apologies as I'm sure it's already been posted a bunch but my seach skill must be lacking. Mount point on 182 Mfee 108s, should I just go on the line? Plan is to compare against Wildcat 108s and most likely sell off the loser. I like a progressive mount but not too drastic, meaning I prefer the WCs at -1 and felt a bit too far forward on the line on a previous pair of Kartels. Thinking that since recommended on these are a bit back from both of those the line sounds like the sweet spot but welcome imput.

A core shot with no base damage is impressive

Haha. Lots of damage to the Ptex but nothing to the core. That's what I meant.
