Go ski with mofro, you’ll see they charge just fine.

I agree. I actually went and checked their weight after a day on them. Not as damp as I expected but more maneuverable

Can anyone suggest a touring ski in the 17-1800g range that skis like the menace proto/M118? Maybe a touch narrower closer to 110.

I have the menace proto in 189 and it is just so so good in soft. And rips some nice piste turns too.

Crazy to see a few pair of new, old stock LP 105s coming on line (see 184s in Gear Swap). Another pair of 190s just came up on KSL.

That's the Legend Factory, not the Legend Pro Rider.

Legend Factory was the initial attempt to replace the LPR prior to the Proto release.

Yes, I recognize that it isn't the same as the old LP105 but the successor race room ski. Still not a lot of them out that haven't been drilled.

Legend Factory is not a race room ski. It's a Cham 2.0 with the same layup as the Legend-X series. Made in Spain.

There is an LP105 with the same black and orange top sheet and bamboo sidewalls, made in France that has the Pro Rider name on the top sheet. https://www.evo.com/outlet/skis/dynastar-pro-rider

This one preceeded the Leg-end version.

I skied the 186 mpro 99 on the line yesterday and quite liked them in the mix of soft groomers, manky leftovers, chalky deposits and windswept areas offpiste. I'm currently at mammoth in the middle of some wet storms. They are so capable at everything, but not superlative at anything. I never thought about them which is a statement in and of itself when riding a ski for the first time. Short of deeper snow I could count on these every day, but I'm undecided if that's what I'm after. With so many skis I almost crave some exceptional feature from any ski I ride, albeit with more tradeoffs than this ski. It is up there with the supernatural 108 as the most balanced ski I have ever ridden.

How does the mfree 108 compare to something like a bentchet 110?

Good to hear. Thanks! Can’t wait to try the ones I have on the way.

The first batch only left the factory on December 15th. Mine arrived a couple of days ago but not mounted yet, and with how low tide the conditions in France are right now no rush to get on these unfortunately.

Curious to hear how the mfree108s compare to the LPR. The orange ones are still some of my favorite ever.

Better float, looser, just as stable. More soft snow oriented. Still has that Dynastar grip on firm but gives up a little over the LP due to a shorter effective edge. Mfree is more playful but yes, it can still haul the mail. Lots of really good rippers here on them with no complaints.

im gonna assume you meant the M-PRO 108, because the mfree isn't even remotely similar. Completely different idea of how to ski.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like the LPR will be hard to replace but a more playful version looks interesting.

I got out for a few runs of night skiing at the local hill on the 186 M-Pro 99. First impressions are that they are a ski that needs a bit of space and speed to come alive in carved turns. They don’t pull you into a turn like a ski with less tapered tips, so you need to be more patient with turn initiation and make sure they are weighted properly (forward and outside ski) before really tipping them over. They are more of a GS ski than a slalom ski. As a result, they are maybe a bit much for a smaller hill at the 186 length. But they felt quite stable on edge once I got them going.

The flip side is that they slide nicely in and out of shorter turns. The tapered tips make turn initiation smooth and easy, and the tails feel powerful and snappy without being punishing. I got them in some bumps and open trees off the side of the groomers and they felt good there.

I mounted mine on the recommended line and that feels good. I was a bit nervous about that since the recommended line is much farther back than other skis I have recently used, but the recommended line feels good relative to the sidecut. They actually feel pretty neutral there, not a ski that demands driving the crap out of the tips (other than making sure turn initiation is good, as mentioned above).

In retrospect, something like the M-Free 99 may have been a better call for a ski to be used at a smaller hill, but these will be fun.

    Cheap M-Free 108

Just bought a pair at Sports aux Puces VéloGare (forum will not let me post link).
CAD 560 for 21/22. One 172 and one 182 left. Think only Canadian shipping.
