Rab kinetic plus for next to skin vb layering

So after years of trying virtually every conceivable layering system for touring I'm going to try DIYsteve's vb next to skin system. I'm thinking of going with the Rab kinetic plus as that vb layer. It's got a athletic cut and is very stretchy. I'm just worried that it might be too breathable to correctly achieve goals of this layering system. Any input? Anyone have any experience using this jacket? Reviews are excellent across the board, just looking for some confirmation.

    Thanks

Thanks for the thread. I am interested to see what you think. This fall I kinda unknowingly was doing a semi-vb with the light baselayer/Houdini.

Permnation, what was your experience with the light weight base layer and houdini? I was thinking of trying a mtb shirt under the rab. I've done alright with a lightweight base layer and Patagonia guide hoody, but I freeze if there is any wind. Hence thinking the rab might be the solution. I have a super light weight mt hardware ghost lite jacket that I use for wind protection while biking, descending only. It's basically a lightweight trash bag. But it seems like it'd be worthless in winter

I use my Houdini as a windshell for mountain biking, and I’ll bring it Spring skiing, but for winter use the condensation buildup on the inner surface is unacceptable. Ive found that high end softshells made for XC skiing, body mapped for wind resistance (windstopper membrane), Flexibility, and breathability (actual holes are best) are as good as you’re going to get. Backcountry skiing is so small and new that the gear isn’t well developed, but XC skiers worked this shit out long ago.
