They opened Catherine's around noon today. That photo was from underneath supreme bowl, we just hooked hard left after dropping that first portion of Catherine's

saw you and the mrs. heading to silverfork this morning. pow laps with the 8yr old before ski school and then headed back to honeycomb. winds consistent as the snow. hit east facing trees slightly north of the boundary chutes. saw a pair of cracks, lots of drifting, some scouring and a switch over to graupel early afternoon. storm was legit,

our honeycombs hideout access was denied

hopefully they can get summit and it opened soon
observations included new modern sillyfork dwellings

    and old

not much in the meadows looked skiable

    a few tracks under dougs
    scouring and loading

hit the westbowl flats bout noon increased pi rates strong winds with plenty of snow available for transport
and increased snow densities slabs were reactive cracking and running on steeper slopes
like go said legit satch dec dump
skied like one of them outta

came back above the gully high to milk out a few more turns and got a 50-75' pocket to go
not enough to take ya off your feet but about 12-18" deep crown and ran down 50 almost to the old skinner

skied out and cuts produced more instabilies and good low angled luvin turns

and got another pocket to go above the mine at the bottom of the guild

holidays of happiness and positive storm cycle pattern change continuation cheers

Those new Silvy dwellings make me super sad in the pants

That's the location where the douchnozzle thought it better to ask forgiveness than permission to cut those 100 year old trees down, cocksuckers

    Edit to add:
Fuck Iceman, super sorry to hear dude. Hope you heal up quick

Line of the day from some guy standing near me after I handed Dave Fields (Standing next to me on the first tram) and the tram operator a candy bag, "Are you in upper management?" "No, I'm just an appreciative ski bum."

Whiskey went to Snow Safety, Patrol, and Tram Ops. Candy went to every employee I encountered.

Had fun skiing the storm pow pow with the kids yesterday at Soli. The girl child child got blown over a few times with the gusts (guess thats the price you pay when your 50 lbs...)

Read the snow report this morning for my goto this season (so far) and found they had opened some new terrain with the 6" of diggety dank dank snow they got yesterday. Rolled up for some hot laps and found out they were 100% opened!!! Fuck yeah!!!! Can Alta say that? Nope. Not even. Did some Creek Sides and Collins and knocked out a quick 20k, then headed home for some Christmas Eve dinnar. When you all beaters get tired of skiing rocks n' grass drop me a note and we'll go where the low tide doesn't matter. I mean, once you fuckers see some nordic facebookinstagram hotness you'll be out there facing your selfies and saying how awesome it is. *

    * Once it fills in and stabilizes I'm going to do some real skiing.....

Loved the booter up Jitterbug from the Saddle Traverse to get to the North facing slopes. Have to give Alta credit for being creative, some good turns there.

They've done that before once that I recall about maybe 4 years ago. I always give Alta credit for letting the skier roam even if conditions are questionable. Hope to make some turns soon.

Hearing a patroller got buried in eagles nest this morning, but is ok now. Lots of avy activity today, take it easy out there. Delayed opening at Alta.

Patroller partially buried. Seeing slides into the old snow finally, and a little more widespread. N facing 9k to 9.5k especially. Time to ski S facing and or go open presents...

The UPD doing traffic control on powder days at the mouth of LCC has become a non-issue.

I think they're so bored they are probably closing it when snow is simply forecasted.

Fuk yeah sfb! Lemons arent so bad with some wadka and sugar. I bet you had that place to yourself. How about those shitters! #countryclub

Wanted to ski yesterday but bailed for a day in the swell with the fam. That place is so goddam epic. Sell it all, go vanlife, tour lasals henries blue hills the plateu the tushars and just vanish in the swell and forget the world. Sounds really really nice.

In other news GW is open at b right on. Meh. Still havent toured yet. Meh. Fuck you 2017! Bring on 2018 and its refresh of vacation time so I can chase a storm somewhere.... #firstworldproblems

yo sfofex, what's your XC set up? I think I'm officially in the market for a skate ski maybe.....

skied george's this morning, wicked warm morning, snow was starting to show signs of greenhousing, every rollover that was steep enough to slide slid earlier in the week, snow has been staying surprisingly good.

I'll be interested to read the avy report just outside of alta yesterday morning. Sounds like it was a guided group of 10-15 (!!!?!) and having 4 people caught means they weren't really adhering to standard avy terrain protocol. easy to armchair with only hearing hearsay so hoping for a thorough report from Utah Avy center. I think I saw the group as I was getting to the bottom of the summer road after skiing yesterday around 10 am. the group size definitely had me doing a double take as I skied by....
