I know you are kind of kidding about Ken Burns. However, based on how well received the people vs larry flynt was and Boogie Nights, I always thought a true academic look at porn from the early 60's to the mid 80's would be awesome.

Throw in a light dose of edibles, you'll see. Not for married guys, though.

OP, I know you're known for being somewhat verbose, but do you think the "founder of playboy" necessary in the thread title. It's like typing: RIP Jesus Christ... founder of Christianity.

Not like tiny 35mm negatives that at under two square inches.
Captures mad details and allows for enlargement w/o much loss of detail.
You can make 8x10 contact prints directly from the negative with no enlargement!

In college I was taking photography and talked into taking some boudoir photos for my girlfriend and her girlfriend.
Multiple rolls of 35mm, but I checked out a couple of reflective lamps and the 4"x5" box camera,
35mm was way more fun to shoot, but I got one great 4"x5" negative.
    Ah, mammaries.

    RIP Heff.

Watching the Duece, I think it should include the start at peeps and 50s "Men" magazines (let's never forget Russ Myers in this discussion), on to Playboy and then Penthouse and Hustler, the classic era of porn that Boogie Nights is all about, VHS and Betamax, and on to, weirdly, free porn on the internet. It could easily be a Ken Burns like project. But he's too prissy and uppity to do it justice.

Yeah that's not right, they go biggest right before any drug comes off patent to build brand name awareness and loyalty, if they aren't running ads ( I haven't noticed) there's some other reason.

Cmon, just look at the list of people interviewed over the years. I know, I know, he creeped out a lot of people, but, he was a smart, horny bastard who did some good in the magazine industry.

The writing and interviews really were top notch and could have been in any serious magazine.

If you'd written that intending it to be witty it would have been a bit.

That you didn't and that you're serious is fucking hysterical.

a lot of people are smack talking him especialy wimens on FB but when you consider where society was at when the 1st edition of PB was published I would say that the liberties those very same people now enjoy are in part BECAUSE of HH cuz he did champion a lot of causes

perhaps at some point PB became irrelevant but that in no way negates what he did ...

    Liberties now enjoyed? Example?

I stumbled into a 'right to life' Twitter feed. They all have him in hell. Pretty funny. Those people are so fucked in the head.

This thread completely useless without pics.

Well maybe someone whose narrator doesn't drone on, maybe a sexy older gal with a smoky voice. But really a snap of his life in that time period in full detail would be rad. And the dude kept amazing records so it could be done and be awesome.

You have no idea then, right? Did you even Google it? Hell, he gave voice to a lot of smart, adventurous voices well before the lamestream media dared.
