Thanks for the kind words all. Appointment was all good news. For those that don't know...she has Stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer that started in the pancreas but is now ensconced in her liver. She has the best docs in the world and their treatment plan thus far has been nothing short of miraculous. They can't get rid of it but they have kept it from getting worse. She expected chemo cycles of 1 year on/1 year off. The first round was so effective, she was off for 3 years. She went back on early this summer but since we're living in 802, she now has a medical card to help with the side effects. This last appointment was to run a rad new scan that has only recently been approved. It can highlight tumors anywhere in the body so this was critical to making sure they weren't missing anything. As I said, all good news; the tumors in the scan had already been identified and are being monitored constantly. We have too many jackets...I was only kidding about putting my name in the raffle. Need to spread the wealth so more people get to know and love the goodness that MiCol delivers.

Nice to hear some good news like that, especially today.

And we'll miss you at the roast, but I need to win one this year...

In the Magic Fall Update, this blurbette:

"Volunteer Day Saturday October 7th: Come help us clear and clean glades and spruce up around the lodge and base area. Join us this Saturday at 9am-3pm and we wlll do a cook out for our beloved Volunteers on the deck afterwards. Thank you!!! (There will be another Vol Day on 10/21 with a huge Ullfest celebration and party with DJ afterwards)."

DJ? Who said anything about a DJ?

We may not be the only shindig in town that weekend haha- That is an inside party's DJ, you've got the outdoors on lock as always. We may be set up farther up by the black chair this year just to distance ourselves from the now-presentable business and any potential food/bev conflicts.

BD bring the jumbotron screen, I've got a Loadall I could definitely hang it from! Yuge bonfires and Ski Porn like the old days!

Another thing we picked up is LEDs for some headlamp disc golf. Inaugural maggot night tourney? All we need is a few solar stake lights to outline the fairways and we're $$$

Also- fuck cancer. Fuck it with a chainsaw.

I spotted this contraption at a "motorcycle speedway" race the other day (I guess that's what it's called? The Czech name is "plochá dráha" - it's single-geared motorcycles with no brakes racing an oval track with lots of dirt on it that they spray hard when they go into their crazy broadsided turns).

I couldn't help but think that it'd be rad for MPPG's cider. Maybe a well-stocked army surplus store would have one? Pretty sure this was an army vehicle at some point.

They were using it to serve mulled wine.

Wow now that's badass! I've wanted to make a rotisserie trailer for years now, shame about the whole "30 seconds of free time each week" thing I've got going right now.

CA - yea, speedway and in the US it use to be large(r). Still is in Australia.

The Czech's developed what was considered the defacto engine for the race type. Remained on top for at least 40yrs. A Jawa engine frame combination is still a prized acquisition.

I am not up to speed with post communist Jawa works.

eta; Jawa parts make a helluva ice racer too. Lotta fun before they took the 1.2" tire spikes away.

This! One of the most positive people I have ever met in my life. Always with a smile on her face that is so genuine it is contagious no matter how she is really feeling.

I’m halfway considering coming to this. Still not sold on the whole “meeting strangers from the internet” thing.

I don't know much about all that, but it was a lot of fun to watch. I did hear from someone we were with that it was big in Australia, but had no idea that it had any significant presence in the US.

It was a full 3.5 hours or so of racing. 10 competitors, 15 prelims (4 racers per heat), and a final. $5 USD equivalent to get in, and beers were $1.20 equivalent, so a cheap, good time. Mrs. Awesome had fond memories of it from her childhood, so it was lucky that they had an event while we're in town.
