    Dynafit Speedfit Boot

    Two questions:

    Are the 'new' Dynafit Speedfit boot a renamed TLT6 mountain?

    Anyone know if there will be a Dynafit Speedfit Performance, similar to the TLT6P?

    I sold my TLT6Ps because I got the correct size, which were a size too small. Since then I discovered different thickness Intuition liners and Id be interested in a size bigger TLT6P/Speedfits with a thick Intuition liner.

    Anyone have a pair of 27/27.7 TLT6P's they want to part with?

    Not exactly. The Speedfit is a new pricepoint boot aimed at the "fitness touring" crowd (category may mystify Americans) with no removable tongue, Grilamid shell and cuff, and a roomier 101 mm last (could be the same as the 2nd generation TLT6, which was roomier than the green/black version). If I recall correctly, there will be a lighter, pricier version called the Speed (can't remember if it's a carbon cuff, but probably). There will be two bindings to match.

    I may be wrong about the Speed boot - I can't find any mention of it. There is a Speed binding, though, not to be confused with the Speedfit or the Speed Radical or the Speed Turn, all in the lineup for 2018.

    I thought I saw a mention of the Speed boot on WildSnow but it wasn't clear. Thanks.

    I did notice the Speed binding, guess Dynafit marketing is trying to stress the Speed behind their bindings?

    I'm not sure what they are thinking. It's not as if coming up with a couple more unique names for new products is that expensive.

    Too bad the speedfit isn't as stiff as the TLT6P (or is it?), as a $600 retail TLT6P would be a killer boot for a lot of people. A few grams lighter too.

    I'll have to track done a pair of Speedfits and see how stiff they are. If they are as stiff as the TLT6P, it might be the new elf shoe. Until then I'll keep watching for a pair

    Still no mention of a Speed boot, only the binding . . . maybe you're supposed to use the TLT7 with it.

    That's a missed speed marketing opportunity!! Someone call Dynafit!! They need a Speed boot asap!!

    So pretty much the boot Greg described, a fitness touring boot for the crowd that wants to skin up the resort. A comfortable Dynafit boot for resort groomers, not a high performance boot.

    On how it is described, I doubt we will get a carbon cuffed version, because that is not the target market. If someone wants that high performance touring boot, the all black TLT7 or the black Beast.

    in fairness, plenty of people go hard in the BC on their TLT6M, and if this boot ends up on places like steepandcheap in 6 months for ~$300 (which seems possible) it could be a great value touring boot for someone getting into the sport. the TLT6 design is great imo.

    I agree 100%. I do have a few friends who shred in their TLT6Ms with no issues and I think for most skiers, the Speedlite will be a great entry boot.

    All I ever had to do was close the top buckle of my TLT6Ps and I was ready to ski. They were just enough of a boot to drive a 193 ski in any conditions. I skied them inbounds for a month two springs ago because my Langes were being warrantied. They worked great.

    I'm going to order the thickest Intuition liner I can find and cross my fingers it gets these 27s to fit where I'm comfortable touring and skiing.

    Anyone ski with these off piste? How did they do and what size skis would they drive? Assume a skier who goes downhill non aggressively in the Sierras (steep and lots of trees and all sorts of snow). TIA.

    Is "fitness touring" the same thing as skin laps?

    If they ski like TLT6M, these boots would work fine for many people.

    They don't ski like TLT6M. Cuff is not nearly as rigid.

    Oh, okay. Do they ski stiffer than TLT6M without tongues? In between TLT6M with tongues and without tongues?

    I just got a pair of Speedfit Pro boots. There isn't much information on them out there, but I ordered them because with the carbon cuff I figured they'd be a cheap version of the TLT6p. I also wanted the toe lugs to use with automatic crampons. My intended use is with my K2 Wayback 96s which I use for ski mountaineering. I'm thinking about going to a lighter boot with my pow skis (Voile Supercharger), so these or the Backlands could end up taking the place of that.

    I only have some initial impressions after taking them for two quick laps up the closed groomer at Summit West (I know---uphilling, the intended use!!). They feel similarly stiff to my Backland Carbons with the tongues in, maybe slightly softer. I think that if I were to ski them hard, I might get some shin bang. The Custom Light liner is really thin, which is nice for summer skiing here in the PNW when my feet get hot. I'm going to experiment with the powerstrap, which is burlier than the Backland, to see if I can fix the shin bang. I think putting in a beefier liner or padding the shin area could be a good idea.

    Will report back when I've skied them more.

    Quick update on these things. They are awesome, although I need to get a few punches for forefoot width. Fit is slightly roomier than my Mercury & Neo boots out of the box.

    I got a tour in at Paradise with wider skis and powder conditions, and they skied easily as well as the Backland Carbon boots w/ the tongue in. The main disadvantage I can see over those is that the Custom Light liner is quite meager. The Backland liner has a reinforced zone on the shin that feels a lot comfier when flexing these Speedfit boots. I'm going to experiment with adding some padding to the shin of the CL liner. I played around with putting the powerstrap, which has that nice new ratchet style, directly against the liner and that seemed to help with the bang some. I'm liking these boots.
