    WWMD / WTB 250x3.25 spring 2011 demo 8 ii

    Need some advice from collective.

Setting up 2011 demo 8 ii for my wife. Demo has 8" travel with fox dhx rc4 that, i think, has a 3" stroke. Rider weight 135-140 lb.

I Want a 250# spring. Prefer lightest weight spring. I don't think fox manufacturers an SLS with less than 300#.

Any suggestions where to find s lightweight spring? Or anyone have a titanium 250#x3.25 that will fit?

Any thoughts of I'm off base on spring rate or size? We ride angelfire regularly. She is learning to jump.

one challenge will be the spring rate, another might be the shock tune. It may be over damped for such a light weight rider.
how do air shocks behave on that frame? a new float x2 might be easier to dial in for both spring rate and comp/reb.

250 sounds too light. That's what some lady friends of mine are running on YT Tues frames which use 3.5" stroke shocks for even slightly less travel.

    That said, there are these.

I've gotten a spring from them in the past. They do make coils that go that low. Kind of expensive but if you're looking at fox SLS springs, you've already accepted some cost. You might want to buy a few cheap 30-40 dollar steel springs and get the rate figured out first. You may end up not caring about the lighter weight one. There's really not that much of a difference. They're certainly not titanium light.

That's a really good point. I have no idea how an air shock would behave on that frame. Might be fine since the fsr is so linear.

Your point also reflects my concern about tuning the rockshox boxxer world cup for her. We had to bail on a lyrik on her enduro in favor of the carbon specialized fork because of a lack of negative spring adjustment.

The 2011s at least use a normal length shock so you do have those options. Honestly just buying a coil is still your easiest option (and best honestly). Those shocks that came on those bikes are pretty good and have a pretty wide range of comp damping adjustments.

    Like I said, cheap

Ordered a 250 and 300 from jenson. I'll return whichever isn't right or both and get a lighter weight spring. Good call. Thx for input mags.

X2 on the super alloy racing springs. They also come in 25lb increments so if you get the goldilocks feeling on the 300/250 you can get a 275. Good product and I see they have some new tech happening recently(coatings for less weight more durability)

My 120 lb wife used a 350lb spring on her demo for reference. 325 would have been better if they made it.
