Allow me to tell you what to do with you money.... actually, I have no advice on what to do with it.

I can tell you that some of my coworkers have done quite well for themselves. I trust and like my coworkers. I asked them for introductions to their advisers (tax, CPA, financial, etc) which they gladly gave. I'm not in the tax bracket to work with many of them but I have met folks and now know who I would call if I were to ever be in that bracket.

A good financial planner should work with you to discover your goals and give you a few options with pros/cons and let you make the decision that works for you.

You have some good "problems" to have on your hands and good luck.

If you're getting them in a restaurant I agree. If you're doing them at home your'e doing it wrong. Marinade in lime juice, tequila, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and cumin. Grill and slice. They're good that way, but I agree beef better.

When you no longer need to have skin in the game that is the fuck you position

so unless you want to try n make it all back again just hold on to yer money

someone sending you a check or checks every month is the big thing IME

I always wonder about these advisors cuz if they are so good

why are they still working ?

We've been through this already [sigh] but let me try to explain it again. A financial advisor is not going to tell you how to get rich quick and retire at 30 or 40--the only way to do that is to invent something that Google buys for a billion or to inherit a lot of money. There is no magic advice a planner can give you--or themselves--to get rich and retire. It's like being a doctor--doctor still get sick, no matter how good they are. They are generally conservative in their advice and people who go to them are usually conservative in their risk tolerance. Planners are working people, like most of us, doing a job and making a pretty decent living at it. If you do go to a CFP and they start talking about investing in the next big thing that no one knows about, leave.

OK--I give you the sarcasm, but most people who say that aren't being sarcastic and truly don't know what a financial planner does.
They have financial planners in northern BC?--what to do with your extra beaver pelts after you have enough flour, salt pork, and beans to last through the winter?

well have you ever tried to eat beaver all winter?

Last year I actulay got a nice load of sockeye ( 8 $ a fish, no load eh? ) from the FN thru a finacial planner connection which just goes to prove that you gotta diversify your portfolio

so after my windfall I thot about a new PU truck, should i buy a new taco or a tundra or an F150 than I realized i don't need a new truck which greatly simplifyed IS ... don't buy what you don't actualy need

so instead I got a new yeti 5.5

back in the day on a canoe trip in northern Ontario we ran into a couple of real-life French Canadian trappers--the Renner brothers, Pierre and Louis, who were known for being irritated by summer campers swarming over their trapping lands, especially when the kids broke into their cabin.

With those connections, I am surprised you can't just keep your current wheels running forever with all the parts available at the million dollar car lot in Mo-town
