FS: The BEST BIGFOOT CAMPER EVAR!!!

Like some sort of impulsive dweeb, I purchased a 1962 NCO Alaskan Camper... and I only have 1 truck. So the Bigfoot needs to go.

    Here's the scoop:

It's a 1986 Bigfoot 8' 6" camper. I bought it last year for the purpose of ski camping. This camper has performed admirably at that task. We have used it for multiple nights of -10°f temperatures and also in sustained winds of 50mph with gusts up 80mph. It's warm, toasty and cozy. One thing really great about this Bigfoot is it's relatively simple and lightweight. No shower, no granite countertops, no frills. Just a simple camper that gets the job done. I think total weight is around 1600lbs dry, so it's not some beast that you need a 1 ton dually with airbags to safely haul. I have been dragging it around with my 3/4 Chevy pickup with no problems whatsoever. No Airbags or helper leafs needed. A 1/2 ton might be a little light duty but it depends on what truck.

    New Stuff:
New Atwood 12,000 BTU Furnace (P/n 32715). The original furnace in the camper had a pilotlight that would extinguish from winds that hit the exhaust vent square on. Which would make for a cold, long night. New furnace lights automatically, much nicer. In 15°f temps the furnace cycles for 5 minutes every 1 hour, keeping the camper at 68°f inside. Very efficient! Could go 6 cold weekends on 1 tank of propane.

New Excide AGM RV battery Old battery was smoked from bad converter, so we replaced it with a new one.

New Intellipower PD9100 Converter with Charge Wizard chip Old Converter was killing batteries and putting too much power into the 12v system, so we replaced it with this. New fuse block installed and all wires int eh camper checked for shorts.

New Dual Density Foam Mattress Because the old one was really gross.

No Leaks, No Dry Rot, No Cracks. All appliances work. All windows seal tight. No Odors. Interior is clean. Nothing is broken. Nothing is half-assed.

Fits best on a modern shortbed pickup. Or an older longbed. (In ~1988 for Chevy, 1994 for Dodge and 1998 for Ford, the manufacturers changed the shape of truck beds, adding a taper to the end of the bed. So a new long bed won't allow the camper to slide in. But shortbed is fine because the "bump" on the camper is in the tailgate area. I built a steel frame that bolts into the bed of your truck to support the camper the full length so it's not stressing the tail gate... works great.)

I'd like to get $6000 for it but I am open to offers. There really aren't very many of these small Bigfoot campers around, and I put a lot of time and money into making this thing work efficiently. I would consider trading it for a Series 100 Land Cruiser or a Diesel Longbed Truck (can add cash on my end.)

Let me know if any of you have questions. Here's some random pics, I'll add detailed interior and exterior shots tonight.

Fuck I want this. I think it may be a bit much for my tundra with a 4.6.... taking the wife and kids cross country for August until school starts, this would be absolutely freaking perfect. Been looking into lightweight pop up campers too, or just camping along the way since it's August....

Could sell with my 2002 3/4 ton Chevy as a package?

I'm bumping up to a 1 ton diesel.

I have the same generation truck as you - a GMT800, year 2000 GMC Sierra, longbed. Will this fit into my truck bed, or does that kickout prevent it?

Very nice, too bad it won't fit in my Dodge CTD QCLB nor do I want to trade for it. This will go fast.

Sadly, I don't think it would work. Trade trucks? I need a long bed for the new alaskan...

Some interior pics. Like I said, all appliances work.

Oh, and this is the "replacement":

I bet it would work fine on your Tundra, albeit the 5.7 would probably be better. Whats your GVWR?

Norseman's Northern Lite is not that much different than this Bigfoot IIRC.

Not sure if you would want my truck - assortment of dents, some rust, well used. Also a gas 6.0 motor, and you said you wanted diesel.

Looks like GVWR is 6900 and GAWR is 4100 front and 4000 back.....

Not exactly a deal breaker if I headed straight there.... but..... that cuts out on several days of travel without a camper

Am I reading this right? You want to take yourself, your wife, and your kids (plural) across country in a truck bed camper in the August heat?
That could only end well if you live in a very small country and have very small kids.
    No longer stuck.

Long story, but my older sons is backpacking in the beartooths for a month, were driving out to pick him up and camp for a few more weeks as well. Mixed in with visiting friends and going on a few floats.

A camper would be sweet, but ultimately we'll probably end up hoteling and camping once we get to Montana and beyond.

August heat ain't bad if the beer is ice cold at the end of the day...

Just a redneck vehicle pile, nothing out of the ordinary.

    I believe that's his Jeep J10 project.

Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.
