I wonder if arc'teryx solved shortcomings with this new iteration(s):

That new integrated tongue, and lip on the cuff (to secure the power strap) look like interesting upgrades over my S-Lab X/Alps.

Quick tech nerd question without making a whole new thread: In ski mode, what part of the locking mechanism keeps the boot from flexing backward like in walk mode? I don't have easy access to look at one in person.

Walk-mode switch lever uses cable to bound back the side-cabron arms to lock into the backbone with little cams into holes of the backbone... different parts working together.

Edit because I found this revealing picture: https://www.skibartlett.com/images/p...0-65558100.jpg

Gotcha. I’m surprised those small male and female parts of the cuff and spine can withstand that force. Pretty impressive solution.

Drrroooll. Wonder how the tongue impacts forward ROM. Looks like it’s sort of hinged like Maestrales, which was annoying. None of the photos really show how it’s attached on the side.

I’d actually been wondering how hard it would be to rivet the tongue receptical from a TLT/Mercury/Vulcan to the xalp for your stiffening pleasure (insert your comment about a needing to deeply mod $800 boots in the space provided: ), but this boot might be enough.
