Looking to replace a 2001 audi TT, roadster for skibee and myself in the next few years. This will be a daily driver, and not a "its nice out, lets go for a drive" kinda car. We have taken the Audi many places it should have not been, and only tore off a FEW under body parts over the years.

needs to have:

1) some AWD system: we live in full winter 6+ months a year, and it can snow in banff year round. We use this in the winter, with full winter tires and rims. Its NOT a garage princess.

2) convertible: summer is short in banff, and like to enjoy the summer as much as possible

3) hitch rack ability: we need to carry skis, or bikes and the top is not hard, so need to have this


Doesn't need:

1) room for more than 2 people: no kids, limited luggage, etc. The audi has been fine

2) to be big: 2 doors, 2 seats is JUST fine.


Wishing for a mini roadster in AWD, Or a VW golf with a convertible, Or a subi impressa in convertible.

BMW 3 series and Audi A3/A4 have both been available as ragtops and with awd over the years. I'm not sure which models and trim levels will be readily available in Canadia. 2 door Wrangler is also capable of going topless and would be your most practical bet for trailhead access or deep snow. The A3 is basically a Golf with an Audi badge on it, so maybe that's your answer if you can find it. If you get lucky finding one and don't mind stepping up in total cost of ownership, you could try to find an awd Porsche, but using that as your year-round ski and mountain bike car might cross the threshold from "fun and a bit eccentric" to "fucking nuts."

Dodge Dakota convertible might be hard to find, but as Chupa says, does check all the boxes. the following is true: a friend of mine's grandma used to have a dakota v6 and she would say "that V6'll get"
