Agreed 100% on SNC- no need to demean the Canadian public with TC to discuss that.

I am somewhat on the fence on the unconstitutionality question. I read the decision and just let’s just say I will be interested in the Appellate review.

Anywayz- i saw PP in the news talking car theft. He wants to make a bunch of mandatory minimums to prevent crime. It’s pretty clear that minimum sentences dont really do that but i was curious - isn’t car theft a provincial crime? how would he enact these laws as pm? is this just more performative bs?

there seems like there could be an opportunity for the feds to do more though, going after organized crime and also to change whatever laws prevent cops from opening up containers they suspect the goods are in (just happened in quebec with airtags).
