And it doesn't look like I ever will be. Much disappoint.

You should PM Uncle Crud I'm sure he would take you out and give you some pointers.
hang in there it definitely gets better
once you get things a bit dialed around maintaining your comfort, figuring out your best layering etc it becomes enjoyable
skinning seems like it is easy but then you get the random off balance moments and I topple over once in awhile still
skid luxury
Yeah, but yer a total dick, so ya got that going for ya.
Keep on Truckin' fuck face.
crab in my shoe mouth
Own it. Start making fun of bc skiers. Spend more time in the park.
Don't be so hard on yourself. It's a lot like lift served skiing in that it takes time to figure it out and that's a good thing. If it all came together on day one it wouldn't be very much fun and you wouldn't have improvements/breakthroughs to look forward to.
dirtbag, not a dentist
Skinning isn't exactly complicated but it's harder than everyone thinks when they first do it... takes a few trips / some mindfulness to get the technique down, balance, kick turns and so on. Same with layering, transitions, adjusting to that pace of exercise (slower than running but just as out-of-breathful), etc.
You probably better just move back to the shithole you came from.
Hunting kicks ass.
Chicks dig Labs.
I'll keep my job, my money and my guns and you can keep the change.
From my cold dead hands.
You're a beginner again, no one crushes the skin track the first time. Stick with it and enjoy the process.
Nobody kills it their first few times out. Start relatively easy, get the feel of skinning, accept falling now and then, get in shape, and the rest will come. I haven't been touring for too long, either (about the last five years) and don't really get out that much, maybe 8-10 half-days per year but the learning for the up is pretty quick. Mostly, it's a really nice workout and it's peaceful. Plus the snow isn't tracked out. Keep at it.
Yeah, don't sweat it. Skinning well is an earned skill.
Here's a perspective: at least you have many miles of experience in downhill mode and can link turns and handle poor conditions, unlike most of the stick-legged Randocommando dweebs that never ride chairlifts.
you obviously didn't drink enough beer
