Skills you should have learned, but never did

I've learned a lot in my life, but two things top my list of skills I missed out on:

Being able to open a bottle of beer with a Bic lighter....gracefully and WITHOUT skinning your knuckles.

Being able to do the hella loud two-fingered whistle.

Seems those are two skills every man should acquire.

What's on your list of skills you somehow missed out on?

    Guns.

Throwing a ball well. I know......sad. I was a soccer player and my father wasn't much of the teaching kind.

    Farming/advanced gardening.

I don't care much about throwing balls I guess but I really want to get good at all of the apocalypse survival stuff.

OK...I guess I'm up to four for me, then, as I've never learned how to throw a good spiraling football (something about holding it at the stitches, but I always forget that part! ) nor how to properly use a baseball mitt to catch a baseball. Hey...I spent half my childhood in Switzerland, then Mexico, so lay off!

I've read enough AKR to know it would go over his head...

    Good one.

I never learned construction skills - foundations, framing, etc.

Entomology. As in fly fishing. Never been able to keep all the different insects and stages of their lives and blah blah blah shit straight. Read books on it even and it just won't stick to my brain. So I just tie on whatever strikes my fancy and I catch a few fish but not nearly as many as I could if I learned entomology.

I learned aqautic entomology, but never could tie a good fly. I'll trade my entomological knowledge for some decent fly-tying skillz any day.

I should have taken auto shop and kept playing guitar. It would be nice to wrench on my own car and be really good on a guitar. O well
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Haha can"t help you there. Although I can cast a fly like a son of a bitch. Distance and accuracy are no problem. Just can never remember what any of the little flies are called. It's a weird mental block. Apparently my brain just drew the line at learning about bugs.

Ditto. I can drop a fly on a dime from 50', but ask me what I'm casting, and I have no fucking clue. Whatever I felt like tying on that morning. You know, one of "these"...

just do like AkPM, and use a bead!
Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.
