    Fitting/modifying helmets

I'm a strikingly handsome beast with a rather large (i.e. 7 1/2) but shapely head. More oval shaped than round. Current bucket is a piece of shit with a patched hole (I know that is not good so spare me the lecture) but it is the only one I've tried that fit my melon and didn't interfere with my telepathetic powers. Are there any that are readily ground or otherwise modified for shape without fucking up the function? Any recommendations for make/models that would be a good place to start? I've tried on a shit ton of them at various shops, demo days, garden centers and really haven't found anything that I could just strap on and go, especially when wearing a balaclava.

I also wear a 7 1/2 hat and have an oval shaped head and Giro helmets in size large work well for me. I just got a Zone MIPS that fits well, but the Range MIPS did not fit me at all. My previous helmet was a Giro Seam and that fit perfectly too.

I'm similar. Agree on some Giro helmets. Some are rounder than others.

Ya giro makes an XL that has a fit system with a little adjuster wheel in the back, you just put it on and tighten it up for the win

I also have the giro bike helmet which uses the same system

"Oval" shape companies are Giro, Smith and Salomon. If these fit you, POC and Bern likely won't. I wear a 7.25 hat and can fit a medium in a Smith Vantage or Salomon MTN Lab (snug in both). If you need to, the foam on most helmets can be dremeled - not ideal, but I know people who do it.

The medium size Smith Maze has an oval shape that fits my 7 3/8 (59 cm) size melon rather nicely, but at the most extreme end of the size range. Although, I'm more homely than handsome so maybe the Smith won't work for you?

The large or x-large Giro edit fit me well

    Older Giro's did not

I had an old Boeri which was perfect, but I left it on the plane

It took me a long time to find a helmet that fit
