looks good.
mostly, I'd just like to be able to use GripWalk or alpine without swapping afd's. hopefully that's solved.
so the heel is the same but the toe piece is going to attach differently? alpine toe slides forward into something and tech toe...idk. maybe the platform the alpine toe slides into is the base of the tech toe and the jaws are removable?
Description I found online.
One of the main changes is the transition from four toe screw towers to a single base plate, making it easier to mount and use.
The larger brake retainer and improved lock button add to the overall improvements in functionality and convenience. The result of all these small changes is a lighter, more enjoyable, and more portable binding that truly represents the next generation of hybrid bindings.
Alpine Weight - 1,343g
Touring Weight - 1,008g
Looks like both toe pieces slide forward on to a fixed plate/puck. Hopefully it resists icing a little better than the current iteration.
Better brake retention would be nice, that's my biggest beef with the current cast system--brakes occasionally deploy when walking uphill. Kinda hoping they sell that separately and it uses the same holes as cast 1.0.
So full circle. Slide on toes like og SI&I.

Just a guess but I’ll bet those were done by crashuer custom
So cast won’t be sold as an upgrade kit anymore. Only complete binding sets. Disappointing to say the least.
This really sucks! Already have pivots mounted waiting for these new kits...
And I was worried my old kits would lose too much value with the new stuff coming.
Heard the same thing about being sold as a whole binding rather than a kit, but was waiting to post.
Definitely a bummer for the DIY crowd who hoards pivots, but this will be big improvement for retailers who had to piece the bindings together with kits bought on the internet. I was really comfortable doing CAST mounts, but I heard a lot of other retailers gave up mounting them (you just need to be damn sure you drilled straight on the toes). Too many horror stories of people getting stranded with bindings that wouldn't go together in the field. Now, every retailer who carries pivots and dabbles in touring will probably get them. But for folks on tgr I can see that being a bummer.
This one looks to slide over a puck of some sort. For my old SI&I the binding slides into a plate. Icing of the plate is an issue. Guessing icing isn’t as big a prob with the puck.
Too bad if only complete sets are available in 2.0. The issue I have with the complete sets is we’re really paying a full premium on the pivots we can all get for less elsewhere if we wanted new ones. Not to mention the stockpile of used pivots a lot of us have just waiting for an upgrade kit.
Exactly, slide on toes with a similar locking mechanism was what I noticed and was expressing. I have the solly SI&I.
If true about complete sets only, that’s a real bummer.

Hopefully, they will still sell extra ski set kits. That’s been one of the biggest advantages of the current system is being able to make my whole quiver Cast for relatively cheap with old heels. Otherwise, that cedes their advantage a bit to Marker, and only left with the advantage of Pivots.
