Rossi squad 7 binding mount HELP

I just bought a pair of Rossi squad 7s and them Rossi fks 140s. Trying to figure out where everyone has been mounting their bindings. A couple reviews out there seem to say placing them 2cm behind the recommended line is the best bet. Thanks!

Depends. Mine were 0 and good in pow but tradeoff was skidding on groomers. Maybe split different at -1? Do over I would try that
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Yeah, I was thinking about doing either -1 or -1.5 just to give a little better performance in the crud and groomers. How did you like the skis? I had the 2012 Salomon Rocker 2s and loved them. Just found a deal on these skis and bindings.

It is a pow ski first and groomers are only a way back to lift for me. I hated 122 and it was just bulky and had no life. I skied them on shaded groomers and it was brutal. Open pow and trees were the reason for th ski. Also it may have floated better or turned quicker but I'll never know. Sold it and bought billy goat to replace those and GPO.
If you like forward mounts mount at 0. If you want half and half at -1. If you want to ski traditional go -2

I had the original Squad 7, 190cm, mounted at -1cm. Still felt like too little ski in front of the binding -- overall, just too short for me, for a ski like that (i.e. stiffer pow ski). Sold them.

    I would go -2cm.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be most likely mounting them around 1.5cm behind the recommended line then I can move them back a little more later on if I decide to try it out. I rarely ever ski switch or land switch so I know 0 would not be necessary for me. Would rather have a ski that performs exceptional in pow and still decent in the beat up crud. I believe the fks have around 30 mm movement total so that should give me some room to wiggle. Thinking about mourning at the upmost position for he bindings in case I do want to go back further on the ski

Except the Squad 7 is a directional ski, so that mount point has no bearing on the direction you intend to ski, but where it was designed to be skied at. Congrats. You will fit in perfectly here.

And FKS has 7mm movement. If all pow then yes -2. We have to see pics of said pow. No pics it never happened

On my czars I have them set at mid primarily because of riding and landing switch sometimes. I was just saying I don't plan on doing that with these skis.

I could have sworn the fks have more movement than 7mm. From what I was told it was like 15mm in each direction.

What length did you buy? How much do you weigh? Mounted mine at "0" and they were great all around and surprisingly quick in the trees but could sink the tip in deep pow. Sold them to my buddy who weighs 40-lbs less than me and he cannot bury the tips. YMMV.

I bought the 180. I am around 170 lbs. Did you feel the skis ever folding up or no?

Rossi squad 7 binding mount HELP

I had the first gen 190, so the tips were a bit stiffer and less abrupt between the shovel and middle of the ski than the one you bought. Didn't feel like I would fold the shovel on that model.

I'd go -2 since that 180 will ski short.

Rossi squad 7 binding mount HELP

^^^thats funny. I just assumed it was white/red 190 squad. Why anyone would buy blue let alone 180 is not something I can comprehend.

But if you have them listen to bandit he's right. The old 190 was 186. New 180 maybe 178?

Nope definitely the blue 2015s. Got a pretty good deal on them and needed some new skis for the time being. So figured why not haha. But I usually ski 174 Czars and then my Rocker 2s are 180.

But thanks Bandit I will most likely be going -2 for these.

Edit: Im about 5'8" at 170lbs. Skiing 190s is not ideal for me especially where I ski. Ive demoed various 190s and they are all longer than a mofo for me haha

190's measure 186 and ski even shorter. My buddy is your same size and skis the same ski in a 190. He went -2 and loves that ski there. Mount at -2 and be done.

I have the original white and red mounted alpine at -1 and I wish I would have went -2. Just doesn't feel like enough tip or enough ski. I also have the blue black 190's mounted with dynafits at -3. I like the way these ski powder better, tip doesn't seem to fold or dive on me as much. I really cant tell much difference between the 2 versions. Both are really easy skiing skis. I'm close to your size. 5'10" and about 170 lbs. I don't ski either of these when I know I will be skiing fast, just not enough ski. Its more of a ski for low visibility days, super maneuverable. I would go -2 on the 180's for nice easy all around ski. As a reference my favorite powder ski is the Dynastar cham 127 and I really like the old metal 191 volkl katana so take that into account with my thoughts on the squads.

I'm mounted at recommended on the 2015 model, 180 cm, and don't like them, for what it's worth. Don't think I've skied on them all season.

Reviving this thread for a question - I'm mounting a pair of 2012-2013 Squad 7s and I've been going back and forth with myself about where I should mount them. My daily drivers are the Blizzard Bonafides in the 181cm length, and the Squads are 190s. I like to charge, but I'm not a speed demon, and the Squads will most likely be my dedicated powder ski (if it ever snows again). Quite a few people have recommended mounting them at -2, but I'm afraid that'd be a lot of shovel for me (since I'm used to skiing 181s).

    Thoughts?

Yet another vote for -2. Think I have my answer. Thanks!
