I've recently concluded that on perfect powder these are the best touring boots I've ever owned. They walk like a normal shoe, weigh nothing, are comfortable and seem well built. I love going uphill on them, and the weight difference over my vulcans is startling. However, with the recent return to more typical WA conditions I've also concluded that for my size(200 pounds), ski preference, and probable lack of technique, they aren't quite enough for variable PNW stuff, for me. If I were lighter, or on smaller skis, or both, I would definitely hold onto them.
I've made a few changes:
Intuition liners, dalbello label. I cut out the achilles and sewed in a neoprene flex panel. They ski way better than the stock liners(which are gone) and walk great.
I removed the tab that makes tongue swaps into a wrestling match. it's super clean and there's no effect on the flex or function of the tongues, only that they are easy to insert and remove. The stock program was ridiculous.
I went on Skimo and got the orange, stiffer tongues. Big difference for skiing feel, and the black soft tongues are included also.
The fabric gaiter was wearing through where the bottom buckle cable crossed over, I glued a piece of nylon in place to protect it; its working great and I don't notice it under the tongues when skiing.
Soles have some wear at heel and toe.
Shells have never been molded.
BSL 288.
Walk mode and buckles are all great.
You will want to see pictures, and I'll work on it. My phone won't currently interact with my PC.
If there's little interest or super lowball offers I'll probably hang on to them. Like most of the stuff I buy and sell on here, they are used and modified.
