On the night of his bachelor party I volunteered to be DD to get myself and 6 or 7 other guys up to Black Hawk, about 40 miles from Denver. A big chunk was interstate, and then a nice highway that goes from super well lit, to dark and back. With a family of 5 a Pathfinder probably rides just right, with 7 or 8 dudes, it was a bit top heavy.
I'm fairly focused on keeping everyone alive for the night. So in a dark bend, I'm doing the speed limit, probably 55. Out of fucking nowhere a deer lands about a foot from the drivers side path 30 yards to the front.
I flinched just a bit and then punched it, ready to mow the fucker down if I had to.
He stood his ground and we sailed on by.
Jeremy and most of the guys were laughing and shouting about something or other and didn't even see. I thought nobody noticed until a solid 30 seconds later and the dude behind the driver's seat goes "woah"
Would not have been fun to tumble that truck on bachelor night for sure.

Same here. Skied with J on many excellent days from '07 - '10.....chasing storms to Wolf Creek, deep days at Vail, ABasin & Breck, skinning at Berthoud Pass.....such a great dude. We just lost touch in recent years. I hope his wife and child are doing okay, given the circumstances. Just terrible. RIP.
