Poll: Use laces on touring boot liners?

Many alpine touring boot liners come with eyelets for shoelaces. Do you prefer to lace up your touring boots? Why or why not?

If a liner can't be laced up I don't want it, especially in a touring boot. Maybe it's my race background but I like liners to fit like socks. For me it improves heel hold, supports my poor pronating ankles a little better and ensures that my gross, bony feet stay exactly where they're supposed to all day.

Plus it allows for putting the liner on the foot, then sliding the whole thing into the shell, which is easier in the cold and more comfortable always, at least for me.

Laces are first thing to go. My feet are wide-ish and flat, so I struggle to find shells big enough. Laces just take up space in the shell. My Dreamliners in Vulcans are so snug laces are pointless, and would just reduce ROM.

I ski them without laces first. If I don't get blisters and they ski fine, I throw the laces away. Out of the last 12 pairs of AT boots, I've used the laces on 2.

No laces, no velcro. I don't mind BOA systems though.

TLT6Ps w/laces removed, booster strap ftw

This. Allows me to unbuckle the boot more while climbing, and holds the liner to my foot. If my foot doesn't move in the liner, I don't get blisters.

Hmmmmm. Never used laces, and with my new Pro tours, I actually am sending the laces back to Intuition to re-use. I may use laces now. Laces do suck when you want to put the liners into the shells, though, as they get all tangled up.

I like to have the option, so I CAN use them if needed, but if not remove

folks with skinier legs/ankles and touring types usually like them

Another yes for laced. ZipFits with laces whether touring or resort skiing. I have tried non laced liners vs laced ZipFits in the same shells and the heel hold and progressive forward flex are both worse without laces. And ZipFits are high volume enough liners that they don't work well for me without lacing them up.

Never had a blister in Pro Tours with laces. Even with 7k days when it's 70 degrees.

Laced up, shell-less liners make awesome booties while camping. Never found a use for them skiing, uphill or down.

I mainly tour fwiw. Laces are superfluous and in the way for the last few years. Get rid of that nonsense is my take. Boa is money tho...
