DPS RPC 2.0

DPS tweaked the RPC a bit with a new layup and slightly modified profile so we might as well start a new thread on the 2.0 version as DPS calls the current Dreamtime Powderworks edition.
From the hand flex the ski appears to be noticeably softer in the shovel while keeping the same nice stiffness in the tail. There is also significantly less rocker in the tail and a little bit of camber more than in the previous Pure 3 version. The front rocker seems to start a tad later also. So far so good.

Left the Pure 3, right the 2.0
I'm really curious how these changes translate to the performance on snow, especially regarding the announced increased dampness.

BTW, any hints for mounting own fuckin skis? Drill size 4.1 and epoxy? There was no info coming with my pair.

More camber and a softer shovel is no bueno for me. Boo. Love the current version, but if magical carbonblahblah makes them damper at the same weight, then I guess that's cool.

I guess they made the RPC slightly softer because of this stupid Blister review which stated the ski was "too stiff". At least the tail ist still like very stiff. Never had problems with the Pure 3 version being too stiff though but if the 2.0 version is more damp with retained chargability so fine with me. The change in the camber doesn't look particularly dramatic. It might be that my old pair is just fucked up.

Pretty sweet color/topsheet for what it's worth. Interested to hear how the changes ski. But I love the 1.0's

I can give some input on the 2.0's as I've got about 20+ days on them so far. For comparison, I've owned RPC's in both the hybrid and Pure3 versions. 2.0 takes the cake, they nailed in with this layup. While the 2.0 does handflex softer than the Pure3 and significantly stiffer than the hybrid, it's anything but a wet noodle. At 6'6", 240 I've used this as a daily driver from anything to oversized moguls to 12" powder days. Never once have I flopped a tip or ever felt like I was going to over power them and there's not many skis that feel that way for me. Where the Pure3 feels a bit planky, the 2.0 flex handles vibrations better, reduces feedback and has a more consistent flex pattern without being soft. The layup retains it's torsional stiffness over the hybrid and the pop of the Pure3. After riding a pair of RP112's (couldn't stand them on anything but hardpack), I'll say the 2.0 is still a stiff charger that keeps it's go fast personality. While the Pure3's are still an excellent ski for the BC (my P3's are mounted with Kingpins) for an alpine setup the 2.0 wins hand's down.

Perhaps my search skills are failing me, but does anyone have feedback on mounting the 2.0s? Not sure if the slight differences change anything. I just picked up a 186 dreamtime pair (like above).

I'm 175, 6'1", 120 stiffness boot, ski kind of centered. Coming off a pair of bent chetlers so used to a little looser feel. These will be daily drivers.

I mounted mine as all of the previous 1.0 at +1, but those are 192. I guess you can easily go +2 or even +3 if you're used to centered mounts. On a 186 I dunno. Probably not a good idea to go to much forward.

Jesus, don't go forward unless you're a jib monkey. I'm 5'8" 140 and have the 186 older version and can't imagine going forward. It's great on the line.

Yeah Dreamtime skis are available preseason only. Wouldn't be surprised if the RPC2.0 come back next year as a full run, just like the Lotus124 did.

Hope so as they will replace two skis in my quiver-versatile resort pow ski and light touring pow ski rolled into one.

Wasn't possible before due to binding constraints but I am really loving my kingpins.

Edited to add, the DPS will probably cost more than the two damn skis they are replacing!

Looked through extensive old threads on other 112 layups and found a surprising number of people who like these mounted forward. (Like... way forward?) Marshall's equations from an older pure related thread put me at +3. I emailed DPS with the same question and they said +1. I'm thinking I'll split the difference at +2 but may chicken out and go +1.

So I ended up mounting these at +2. Great decision for me. I was a little nervous that they would be too far forward but they have plenty of float at speed and they're comfortably but not scarily loose (had them out with plenty of new snow at Mammoth last weekend). FWIW, these are my one-ski quiver so they will be doing everything from bombing open bowls to cruising switch with my kids. 192s mounted on the line would be good for going fast in one direction in light deep snow.

Either way, I'm really psyched about these. I demoed the standard pure RP112s (mounted on the line) and had the same objections many others had about the soft floppiness, short sidecut, etc. Coming from Bent Chetlers as my prior everything skis, the standard RPs felt much less loose (the tails didn't break free easily) and more directional. The RPCs feel VERY different, possibly in part because of the forward mount. They are much more damp, lock in on big open turns, and feel nimble but still trustworthy. They have some of that slarvy feeling in the soft stuff that I loved when I used to have a pair of 138s and liked in the Chetlers. Can't wait to get some more days on them.
