I'm so sorry to hear this. Some people have much different stories than mine and its definitely a tough road no matter what stage you are. I don't want to poke fun at this illness, but i'm glad to hear that people enjoy seeing the lighter side of it.
I hope that I can somehow raise some awareness that cancer isn't something that needs to be feared as much as you may think. Fear caused me to ignore my symptoms for longer than I should have and in the end, it didn't help me out by doing so.
Sometimes fear just means that you need to push your shins into the front of your ski boots and fuckin send it!

Without getting too graphic or personal, what were the symptoms you wish you had gotten checked out sooner?

Congrats on fighting the good fight. I'm glad to see you getting after it in this video. Get back to 100% soon, dude.

No worries. I had Stage 2 Rectal, so its hard to not get too graphic. I started noticing blood in my stool. Then my stool started getting really thin. Which pretty much means that something was blocking the path. FYI, only a colonoscopy can really tell you if something is wrong. So don't wait until your 50yrs to get your free screening if you know something isn't right. Hope that 's not too graphic, but I know that sharing that story could help someone....so, ya know. I told that story to a family member and she made her screening a priority. Doctors found a few polyps which can become cancerous. She thanked me immensely for sharing with her.

To be honest, I did click this thread because I didn't want to read another man with cancer threaď, but glad I did. Great video, and truly inspirational. A positive message and a good plug to deal with these things gs eaŕly.

As bad as cancer can be, one needs to always remember it is potentially curable, not just treatable like so many disease that people "think" are better to have.

"Sometimes fear just means that you need to push your shins into the front of your ski boots and fuckin send it!"...sig worthy.

We're in soCal are you rolling from? I am in Ventura.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Cancer has now taken 6 of my wife's 9 brothers and sisters, plus her mother and father, and a brother in law. Makes me wonder if there wasn't some environmental factor.

I sometimes forget that I had cancer too, and ignored the symptoms for years. Turns out it was about the most benign cancer you can get, basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer that rarely spreads to other parts of the body. I was very lucky.

Wow, I wasn't aware of your situation. I'm sorry to hear that but stoked that you're on the right side of the fight and well on the way to strong health. You're too young to be dealing with something like this. Just happy to see you've got the upper hand.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the stoke. I'm never quite sure how these silly little videos will be perceived, but I'm always glad when people enjoy them and tell me so.
I'll try to keep doing more when the inspiration hits! (don't want to burn people out on it though)
After my first round of Chemo and Radiation last summer I did a much needed surf road trip down Baja. But I was a little too timid to mention any of the cancer stuff in it.
It's a bit of a struggle at first. You don't really want to be identified by it. But eventually you realize that you will be anyways and people will respect your more if you take pride in it.

Fucking awesome, man. I love seeing when people decide to make the most out of their lives while continuing to battle, instead of letting the cancer take over their lives and dictate what they can (and can't) do. Keep gettin' after it!

Thanks for that Tate - as you've probably already been told, I'm gonna guess that your chances for cure are pretty high, (depending on a lot of variables and luck of course). For a young healthy dude with negative node involvement, getting pre-therapy with chemorads with excellent response, odds are definitely in favor of you churning out cool videos for a looong time...

And hopefully you'll get your asshole back too. If not, there are plenty of assholes in this here forum.

That was really great. I can't imagine its easy to rip like you were on chemo.

When I suffered a pulmonary embolism after a third occurrence of blood clots and was generally freaking out three years ago, all I wanted to do was hang out with my kids and ski.

Yeah, the prognosis is looking good and genetic counseling was negative. So recurrence is pretty low!
I basically got a hell of a warning shot and I've changed my outlook on life, health and attitude in a lot of ways. Some people just want life to go back to the way it was before the cancer. Honestly, I don't want to go back. This shit can teach you lessons about the value of life in ways that nothing else can.
