    Sam fucking Querry. WTF.

So I remember watching him at the US open in 2012 thinking the guy had game (he won his first two matches that year I think). But shit damn, I watched his last 2 matches at the Acapulco Open and jesus, the guy looked like a top 5 player. Guy's serve was incredible, and his shot making and pace... fuck. You yanks have a late bloomer there fo sho. Wow, he totally schooled Nadal tonight and the Spaniard was not playing shitty. Kid's rank is going up from 40 in a hurry.

Edit... And my 2000th post is tennis related

Kinda flew under the radar but we were treated to another Federer-Nadal final today at the Miami Open - not a small tourney by any stretch.

Fed lit up the crab claw 6-3, 6-4.

This keeps up and I think we'll see another major out of Fed this year.

Caught the last set. Hard not to drop what you have going on and watch them battle it out.

Fed is looking good alright. Watched a couple of other matches and actually enjoyed them more. Fed/ Kyrgios and Kyrgios/ Zverev namely. Kyrgios is sure a spaz with some amazing shots.

The man really is a nut. He's selling his M3 himself and responding to DV inquiries about it.

He certainly wouldn't be able to sell his used racquets. None survive it seems.

That Kyrgios - Fed match was fantastic, gripping tennis. Kyr is definitely a bit of a nut, but he's actually toned it down a fair amount thus far this year. He'll win some majors and be #1 within the next 3 years if, and that's a big if, he can keep his shit together

^ Finals in really the largest high school team tournament on the east coast. Foremat 6 lines singles 3 doubles 7 point match scoring. match is 2-3 with two singles lines still playing. we (my son's high school team) is winning one of those big, wich will tie match 3-3. the other line is VERY close, split sets playing a 10 point tie break. for all the marbles. Our guy (not my son) crushes a first serve at 9-8 starts to walk off the court. Opponent puts his finger up which is in our area the universal sign for calling the ball out. it was in by like a foot. Our side/stands erupts. He then says "well I'm calling a let. I heard a let." total bullshit, no ref on hand.so what can you do?

When I explained to my wife she laughed and said "yeah John H. told me all about that." John H. played four years NCAA Div 1 and was my older son's coach at a small area D3 college. "john said his senior year he didn't have one first serve that was not a let in a college dual meet." he said that's the real reason why NCAA is making you play a ball that his the net on the serve but goes over. they were like fuck, we can't police this.

Thing is, how do you teach that to a high school junior? so blatent what happened, but educational just-the-same. Told my son (who is junior) next year not ONE first seve from that team is clean.

Oh, jesus. That's fucking brutal. No one calling lines? Even at a tourney final? Holy shit, when I played tourney's they would make you call lines when you weren't playing.... and finals always had someone acting as umpire. Damn, Marshall that's sucks. Whatever happened to sportsmanship? They need some vollies calling these games... or something. I'd be pissed if it was me or my kid.

Standard USTA torney format here is ONE, maybe two, roving ref on site and they ain't gonna pay for more, that I can promise you. he WILL NOT overule anything he did not directly see, and it is damn rare they overrule anything they do see no matter how blatent. Worst part is that players coach was cortside, standing over that seve, and i garantan-dahyam-tee either he orcstrated that or taught the kid to make that call beforhand. Never heard of making players call lines.

Pretty standard when I was playing club level tourney's. Come to think of it, even the last couple of years. If a player didn't like the way the other player was calling the game, he'd just call to the spectator's area and a player would come in and umpire. Tougher if it's head to head high school tourney though I guess since impartiality may be difficult. Still, teaching kids to cheat is fucking stupid.

It's clear something is wrong with Djoker. Firing his whole team including Becker, first round losses...

And I read not too long ago that he's going to partner with (my favorite player of all time - Agassi) for the French and possibly more on an ad hoc basis.

I'll be curious to see the results of working with arguably the greatest comeback artist of all time in men's tennis.

^^^^ solid match. The win by two in the fifth set format is nuts, though.

Gotta say that was really fun to watch. It's almost like D Young was the player everyone hyped him to be 10 years ago. I love Majors five setters for that crazy situation we saw today.

Anyone remember Roddick's 20 some-odd game 5th in the Wimbledon Championship against Fed back in aught-ten or so? Pretty sure that 40+ game fifth set broke him for good and made him realize that one US Open and a SI Swimsuit model for a wife is just gonna have to be good enough.

I remember that. You had the feeling he just threw everything he had at Federer and couldn't beat him.
